Good things:
- After a poor Q1, Woodside was 17-20 in Q2-4
- Swanson got 100 yards
- Thompson had his normal outstanding game with 101 yards receiving, holding on kicks, playing special teams, etc.
- Defense got pressure on the Nevada QB. Only the 1 sack, but that caused a TO; also had the hit that caused the INT and several times caused the QB to throw before he wanted
- Seymour again showed some flashes of being a big bruising back
- Vest is on pace to set every field goal/scoring record there is with 7 FGs in 2 games (ok this is both a good an bad thing)
Not so good things:
- 3.2 yards per rush.
- I can't remember Woodside being hit/hurried so many times before. Was hurried a number of times which highly limited the number of times they could put the ball down field.
- Defense still has the propensity to give up big plays are crucial times
- 14 penalties for 110 yards, plus at least 1 that was declined. There were about 4 off-sides penalties which have no reason to be committed. OK, the one PI penalty was a horrible call, but this undisciplined play needs to be remedied.
- Play calling seemed highly predictable. Out of 38 1st down plays, ran the ball 29 times. I know people want to see us run more, but you need to throw on 1st down more than 20% of the time to keep the D honest.
Always good to come away with a win on a road trip, especially a long west coast one at altitude, but the Rockets were lucky to get the win IMO. Take away the fumbled/blocked punt, the silly on-sides kick, the targeting penalty and the questionable reversed INT call, and the score could have easily been reversed. Rockets are gonna have to play a lot better against Tulsa I think.
Our saving grace was Woodside's quick release and accuracy.

Our Oline is awful. Fire the OC. Defense stinks again this year. Fire the DC because of too many penalties. That's an awful call on 3rd down. Why aren't we throwing more short passes. Looks like just another 9 win season. After tonight performance, don't have to worry about a MACC.....and on, and on, and on. My gosh, we went on the road with a 3 hour time difference, high altitude and came away with a big "W". Come on gang, jump on the band wagon and get excited, because right now....... We are the only undefeated Division I team in the state of Ohio!!!!
well, I didn't get online during the game, but I think I would have been saying the same things. Play-calling was horrid and once again it looks like we are trying to prove that we will run an inside bubble screen until we get it right. Save that for practice and not the game. It killed us on a few drives. Like I said about 4 years ago, you watch NIU run it - and they execute it. We run it and it looks like we drew it up in the dirt (if there was any) inside the huddle before running the play.

Somewhat deceptive. Somebody has to finish second in the division. Since Steele has everybody else being horrible, a bad Nevada team gets the honor of being picked second. His actual write up of Nevada states that only 3 of his 9 computers have them being bowl eligible. Meaning he doesn't think they are any good, and certainly not a MW "favorite."
