Bailiff No 19 on the Hot Seat
Bailiff is picked No 19 on the hot seat for 2017.
http://coacheshotseat.com/
He must win 6 games to keep his job. All the current publications (Texas Football magazine, etc) pick Rice to go 3-9 or 4-8. Sounds like a terrible year again unless the new Defensive Coordinator can improve things.
BY the way The Toad is #3 on the hot seat. He has to win six games to survive. I actually think he has to win 7 games to survive.
Stay tune!

Nice to see Bailiff get Rice back into the Top 25 the only way he can.

In my opinion, Bailiff should not be that high in the hot seat list, let alone in the list at all. Maybe more of an implicit reasoning behind my previous sentence though.....

Yeah, but since this is his last year under contract, one would think this may FINALLY be his due or die, put up or shut up season.

4-8 is highly optimistic. What do they base that projected level of success on?

I think if he wins 4 or more his contract likely gets extended; 6 or more and it's certain. It's depressingly clear that his backers don't expect more of him.

Quite the collection of Mark Twain content on that page.

RE: Bailiff No 19 on the Hot Seat
Unless S&C gains under Coach Tedford are substantial enough such that the rash of injuries are reduced and the new defense coached by Stewart really makes an impact, I am not seeing 6 wins on the schedule. We play Pitt, Stanford, Army, and UH out of conference; that's brutal. Even if the defense plays well and our secondary shuts down the big play, we have to demonstrate that we can score. At a minimum, we need Samuel Stewart and the Walters to stay healthy (Stewart) and have break out years, and that is not addressing the elephant in the room: who will hand off the ball to them. I don't see how Bailiff survives three straight seasons without going to a bowl game. Someone mentioned sometime ago that one of the coordinators might be a head-coach-in-waiting. Not sure how feasible this notion is, but Stewart would be a compelling look.

This is not his last season under contract. 2018 is.

I think it will depend more on if the handing-off guy can also throw and run.
Yes, I agree, that is why I stated "at a minimum."

If kingsbury or Beaty get fired, what do you think about either as a replacement for Bailiff?
I would say yes

Beaty just got a contract extension and beat Texas in November. He's fine. Kingsbury is definitely on the hot seat.

The HOG; I like it. That would make the backup QBs the HOG TOGs.

If Kingsbury doesn't survive this season as HC his immediate future would be as an OC at a P5. I don't think we could match that kind of salary as our HC.
But, hey, maybe I'm wrong.

Kingsbury - No
Beaty - is this the same guy that the parliament thought was stupid and useless? And now we want him because Kansas fires him? No.
