I oppose the UT-K basketball game unless it is tied to home and home football because it hurts recruiting (according to our last two former coaches) and Tubby certainly needs all the recruiting advantages he can muster.

However, if the decision at this point is irreversible, then we better win.

If you want MBB to remain a high level program financially, then you better be for games like UTK - much more to the equation than philosophical opinion. And BTW, it's fine to avoid such games when the games are sellouts but JP ran off fans in droves during his last few years & the tide hasn't turned yet.

I agree the tide has yet to turn. People do not seem excited by the Tubby hire . Unlike when Calipari was hired after a worse season than two years ago, we did not obtain a bump in attendance after Tubby's hire last season (in fact it dropped). And attendance will likely drop again next season under Tubby's tenure.

Attendance (butts in seats) did not drop last season. It did not however take a significant bump either.

The season prior we had to have 6700 butts in seats in the final game just to get to a 6k average. The school had to ask fans to attend the final game just so we could hit that average. Last season we didn't have to go thru that conundrum to average 6k.

Thanks. What was average actual attendance for the 2015-16 season and the 2016-17 season?

We just have to hold our nose and play these schools right now in basketball for the ticket sales.

But football tix are growing. And we're playing for something there. Not sure how much playing UTK or Arky in football would help right now. We need to run the table OOC and win the AAC championship game. That gets us the big prize. Increasing our non-con SOS does not really help there, because we're not playing for a playoff slot realistically.

We just don't need to play them in football. Get one good non-con game - no matter who, and focus on winning the AAC.

UofM officially reports ticket sales.

Grizz has actual attendance reports...not sure where those are reported. The only reason I know last season it had to be over 6K was coz we did not have to struggle to reach that number. The season prior we wouldn't have known the actual attendance either but the only reason that became as public was cuz of the struggle to hit 6K average and the payout that goes with that.

Ticket sales were however down last year.
