Quote:Where have American jobs gone? Some have gone the way of automation. Others have gone overseas. And now, it appears that they're also moving to the suburbs.

From 2000 to 2010, the share of jobs near city centers declined in 91 of the 100 largest U.S. metropolitan areas, according to a new report from the Brookings Institution, a Washington, D.C. think tank. As of 2010, 43 percent of jobs were 10 or more miles away from cities' central business districts, compared to the 23 percent of jobs that were within three miles.

Meh, facts, nothing more than nuisances to ignore...

YES...Retail jobs moved to the suburbs. And a lot of fast food and hotel cleaning jobs too!

We're talking about high paying jobs, my friend.

Are "we"? The article says NOTHING about that. It addresses jobs, period, same as me. You can pretend to speak for all the queers on here but you don't speak for me.

Besides what's a "high paying job"? One in San Francisco or New York? One that straddles you with rent you can't afford? $100K / year won't get you jack **** there. What good are those "high paying jobs"?

The people who are affected by the high taxes and have the means to relocate do.

Maybe this is the case in Memphis, but absolutely not the case in Mpls. You'll find many $1M+ new construction homes and condos in the city.

Seattle, Portland, LA, Chicago, NYC, Boston ... yeah, any of the good places.

Yea, when I think high paying high profile corporate jobs....I think the suburbs. And some are there. But usually in the most liberal suburbs.

And yet..all those Cal Tech grads....stay in SF anyway and just pay more. Why do you think that is?

I don't know. Familiarity? Only place in America that's liberal enough for them? Honestly I don't really care.

Are these people "the rich" that your ilk is always bitching about?
