And such a statement only makes logical sense in the context of giving everyone who is unimployed, and would like a job, a government "job". (job in quotations, because it may need to be that they get paid without doing much of anything ... there may simply not be enough actual work to go around)

Then throw in that she started the statement by mentioning that she has a government job.

Should be easy to grasp.

We understand that your utopian society would be one that everyone had a government job..but..that is not what she was advocating.

Stop trying to decide what she 'implied' and instead accept the words she chose to use. You are not in her head, the only thing any of us have to go on is what words she chose to use and the definition of those words. There is no 'implied' meaning -- there is the meaning that the words have as described by the dictionary and the meaning according to grammar when sentences are constructed.

q5..

You forget that when a person makes a statement, liberals know better what a person means even more so than the person who made the statement.

Her answer on feminism was superb.

You misunderstand entirely.

I've never advocated that, and don't.

She also did not advocate that, rather she advocated that everyone who was unemployed - and wanted a job - should at least have a government job, like she does. That is what she was saying.

And that is ridiculous.

That's what her words literally are saying. How does it make any logical sense to advocate that every unemployed person, who is looking for work, should be given a private industry job?? That's impossible.

If she meant something else, then she chose her words poorly. BUT, I do understand that it was an extreme pressure cooker, on-the-spot type of deal. She is human.

I agree that people should have a government job. If you are receiving any sort of assistance, you should have a job picking up trash, or other type of job the government has for you.

A city that has a lot of assistance being paid should be one beautiful city. Not a candy wrapper or cigarette butt to be found anywhere.

I actually think you're on to something, UoMsU!

Think there's actually room for some common ground! *SHOCK*

It's only going to get much worse over the next couple decades, as robotic automation and artificial intelligence make more and more people "unemployable".

MBison, if I were you, I'd ask for a refund from NDSU. Clearly, their remedial reading classes didn't help you. How you can continue to spew this idiocy when others have pointed out your faulty reasoning is beyond me.

But, like a true lib, it was not YOUR error, but rather HER fault that you clearly don't understand spoken English. You claim that "she chose her words poorly." The vast majority of us had absolutely NO problem understanding what she meant. But YOU still don't understand.

I would say my biggest disagreement with her is that far from every job you can have guarantees you health insurance. If every American that was working and trying their hardest didn't have to worry about healthcare then I wouldn't really give a damn about the pure lazy, but that's nowhere near reality.

That is not what she said ..... she didn't say or imply we should give government jobs or industry jobs....

I would suggest for you to go back and read her words again

LOL! Far, far too late for that, I'm afraid ...

PS - I am not a Street Fighter character

I have no doubt that the vast majority of you -- that post on this message board ... so in reality, a fraction of 1% of the country's population -- took her words and filtered them in your brains to mean what you wanted them to mean, per your ideology.

Excellent point!

And, possibly, more evidence pointing to the idea that she literally mean government jobs for those unemployed who are seeking work, as I think those are more likely to come with healthcare benefits.

If true, her words would mean that every American who is employed, but whose job does not provide healthcare benefits, is lazy, and should switch jobs to one that does provide them.

Doubt that's what she was going for ...

Not sure what the anger is.

Seems to me that she was advocating that people should have 'jobs' with heath care as a benefit. Not really sure how you think she's saying everyone should have a 'government job'. Just because she has a gov job doesn't mean that she feels everyone should, and her words do not imply such either.

To mirror her words...
I was in the military and had free health care as a benefit of the job. I feel health care should be a benefit of having a job, and I think we should cultivate a society where people have the opportunities to work.
No one should take that statement to mean that I feel everyone should be in the military.

She should have said both. It should be the right for people who are seriously ill like cancer, people with MS, people with CP, people with disabilities, the elderly, and others like that. People usually lose their jobs because of illness and all that, or people who are born blind, deaf and so forth who do not have full time jobs to be able to have money for health insurance.

People who are disabled, blind, deaf, etc already have free healthcare. It's called medicare/medicaid/medigap and they dont have to pay for it because they are unable to work.
