It's a great gesture but no non-P5 player will ever win it.

Actually, if Lexie Elkins doesn't get hurt last year I think she's a shoe in.

Yes to both, imho.

Not gonna lie, my first thought when reading the title was "Does ULL have a team DJ?".

Thou I would have loved to see a SBC player win it, Sierra Romero from Michigan was the shoe in last year. Could not watch any ESPN softball game without her name coming up.
If someone would be so kind this weekend to pitch to her with the bases loaded. D.J. could move out of a tie for the record of most slams in a season. That could create some buzz for her.
Just for info purposes, when Lexie got hurt last year (during conference) and missed over a month, through 29 games she was hitting .538 with 17 HR's, 26 walks, and 2 SO's. Her on-base was 0.641%, Slugging was 1.263%, and OPS was 1.911%. She missed the next 15 games and only played the final eight with her timing not anywhere close to where she was prior to sitting out. She was on pace to break the all time home run record in three years. I think she beats Sierra Romero for POY, but again that's just my opinion.
