We really don't have control in scheduling quality OOC P5 opponents. We are not going to accept one-and-done type of contracts so we have to make the best of of it...even that means flying out to San Jose early in the year.
Please note that USF orginally had two OOC opponents this year but Indiana bought out our contract and the second Florida game that was rescheduled years ago for 2017 also went away. So it's not for lack of trying, especially when these games were originally schedule we stunk out loud.
Plus a weak schedule never hurt Boise State or even UCF when you guys had your magical Fiesta Bowl run. Playoffs are a stretch for AAC schools even with a "tough schedule" so if we win our conference everything else will take of itself.
BTW, priority one for USF is winning our conference.

Believe USF had another so called Power 5 team scheduled this year (either Mich St or Wisc, can't remember), and the contract got cancelled or moved back in the case of Wisc.
Not quite apples and apples. We ARE playing UCLA, at least.

man that really hurts now. Having a top 10 mich state on the schedule would have really set USF up to break into the top rankings. Most will look at this schedule and just think back to the marshall or ball state runs, even tho imo its unwarranted as AAC is way better than MAC or CUSA.
Correct me if I am wrong but I think neither Marshall nor Ball State started the season already ranked.
I don't think we will plummet down the rankings for winning every game...

1) I just listed all OOC
2) FAU is away, for what it's worth
3) Both Army and Air Force beat Navy last year (in a year that they won the West)
4) The schedule is tougher than USF's

Lets keep in mind that we gave Marshall a hard time about their easy schedule a couple of years ago. Even though they did not get the access bowl.

This is starting to look a lot like the Houston threads from last year. Can we pick this back up in November in the event that USF doesn't have 3 losses by then?

I think its more the Notre Dame cache -- fair or not.

Indiana? thats not a good P5. Florida game is a tough break, though if true.
UCF 2013 schedule included a top 5 USC and @ top 10 louisville. Also a game @ penn state. USF is probably going to go the whole season not playing a ranked team much less two teams ranked in the top 10. USF doesn't have an ooc game against a team with a pulse. Really zero comparison in USF having an historically weak schedule among the likes of the marshall and ball state run and UCF or Boise who actually had good teams on the schedule.

I'm not trying to claim that Navy will win too many strength of schedule arguments...but this is a stronger schedule (FAU>Fordham) than 2016, when 2-loss Navy was mentioned by the playoff committee before the conference championships as possibly moving ahead of undefeated WMU due to strength of schedule/quality wins.
Not difficult enough to get us into playoff conversation, but definitely difficult enough to get us into NY6 bowl conversation.

We had Wisconsin this year but they moved it to 2019 and we couldn't fill it with a quality opponent. It's tough...
If we run the table, I think being undefeated in the AAC would put us ahead of the others for the nye bowl

IF you're the only undefeated team, yes. If you think one of those MWC teams that play @Bama this year go undefeated and don't trump your record, you've lost your mind.
As stated before, USF is WAY more likely to actually go undefeated, but you'd still have to be the only undefeated team to get the spot.
