How did the SoCon vote?
I think 11 games is enough. I know FCS teams can have 12 games in years where there are 13 saturdays during the season. That happens a couple of times in the near future. App State will be our 12th game in those years coming up.

I would like to see 12 games. The more the better in my way of looking at it. But if we get into the playoffs there will be more than enough games.

Consider this from the perspective of teams that make deep playoff runs, though. If you win two playoff games, you're looking at a 14 game schedule. The teams that go to Frisco play an extra 3 or 4 games every year, so a 12th regular season game means the teams at the national championship game are playing an NFL-length schedule. Nobody wants that. I can guarantee the MVFC and CAA voted against this, and I'd bet the SoCon did, too, for that very reason.
Then throw in the pressure of smaller conferences trying to find an extra non-conference game when they only play 5-6 conference tilts already, and you've got the Big South, NEC, and Patriot League voting against it, too. The Ivies vote against it on principle, that's 7 out of 13, and the legislation is dead. I suspect the MEAC, SWAC, and Pioneer League voted against it, too.
What I found amusing was that the Southland - one of the most notorious creampuff schedulers in FCS - was one of the sponsors for this and used the argument of, "We could schedule FBS schools if only we had one extra game!"

RE: 12 Game Season
An extra game is an unnecessary increase in travel costs for FCS schools who already struggle with budgets. Also an increased probability of injury to players in an extra game.

RE: 12 Game Season
I would've preferred it as long as teams didn't use it to schedule additional money games. Use it to schedule quality OOC games. Ex: Chattanooga and Kennesaw State are like 90 minutes apart, that would be a fun open for those two to do a home and home. Close proximity, and truthfully you wouldn't have to get a hotel if you didn't want to. ETSU playing an old OVC opponent, a team like EKU, Peay, Tennessee Tech, etc... would be good. Something fairly regional for teams.

That's a great idea, but nobody would do it. They'd either schedule FBS money games or non-DI schools they could wale away on. In fact, I'd almost guarantee that's what the OVC and Southland would do, respectively, if the proposal they sponsored had passed the FCS-wide vote.

RE: 12 Game Season
And that's ridiculous, if you want to grow then schedule games at home that are competitive and get people to want to come out and watch. Same problem in major college football. People are tired of 60-70 bucks a ticket to see Tennessee play UMass.

Or, Tennessee play ETSU?

Yep. Power 5 fans are getting fed up with paying the prices for those games.

RE: 12 Game Season
There is still something about an 11 game schedule that sounds "small college".

RE: 12 Game Season
IMO, with a 24 team playoff in FCS, there is no need for a 12th game.
