RE: Tubby's message is loud and clear
I hope Tubby turns it around.
Today wasn't a good day for him.

Shoulda cut bait from the start
I agree and understand your stance. But I also appreciate him giving all three a year to earn their spots and determine their own legacy.
Why cut bait at all? A good coach AND PEOPLE PERSON (Cal) would have sat everyone down and said this is the way it's going to be in a nice but firm way, taken them to dinner, got to know everyone personally and they would play/work their ass off for him.
Short version. Anyone who supervises high level people know what I mean.

I agree. I think he probably over-estimated what the players could do for this team, and underestimated the challenges from the whole dynamic.
Wish he would have done it then, but it is what it is.
I'm thinking he wasn't given that option when he was hired. Whoever wanted to keep that arrangement was probably just out voted -- but at least they're six figures better off financially, now.
Who FORCED Tubby to agree to become the HC at Memphis. Donna? His agent? Odd that a 60 year old man would be forced to accept a job when he already had one.
Of course, though, we have heard today that Keelon was on his way to Georgia Tech until Tubby persuaded him to stay. I guess that was after he was forced to take the job at Memphis.
Not the way it happened according to his family.

If that is the case, I'm fine with it.
Yup. Let the man run the show, as he was hired to do. Totally agree. THAT'S THE WAY IT IS AT ALL MAJOR PROGRAMS.

Sit 'em down, stroke 'em, be nice but firm, dinner, etc. Lordy. Really? That's funny. Unrealistic, but funny.

Enjoy watching the worst team in decades hit the floor next year and get it's brains beat out by every decent team it plays.

Foolproof recipe. Works every time. As long as they have multi-year contracts with no buyouts, and no other job prospects.

This!
But what everyone from GP, Geoff, and the media, to Cal and Tubby himself, have acknowledged that this job is different. You've got to get out and promote the program. You have to build relationships with local hs and AAU coaches. It has become pretty obvious through his actions and other accounts from those in the know that he hasn't done either.
If you want a blueprint for how this should be done just look at Mike Norvell and his staff.
