If things are so rosey at UCLA, then why is Stevie thinking about Indiana?
Well, if I were him, I wouldn't want to deal with LaVar Ball for 3 more years. His plan for getting a shoe deal for all three sons is a NCAA penalty just waiting to happen
If he keeps talking s#it about current and former NBA stars and their kids he's going to get his kid killed when he has to go against those guys next year. Every time he opens his mouth the target on his kids back gets bigger.
The one that really cracked me up is when he mentioned Shaq's kids while listing off former players whose kids didn't amount to anything (in his eyes). When corrected that Shaq's son is actually pretty good he said "His son is alright." Well LeVar, Shaq's kid considered a bigger recruit than your other sons right now, so why exactly are we calling a high school junior with a lot of upside a bust?

UCLA doesn't know what disrespect means. Root for a mid major and you will know what disrespect really means.

RE: Kent State vs. UCLA (NCAA Tournament)
I'm thinking Danny Pippen might be the key to us staying in this game.
I would start with our small ball lineup that's been working so well. I would make them force us out of it rather than let the fear of their size make us play their game. If we let them dictate how the game will be played before the game starts it's probably over already. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they do force us out of it quickly seeing as how their starting posts are 6'10" and 7'0". I would be really cautious early to not leave Edwin on one of their bigs if it isn't working because we can't have him getting in foul trouble tonight.
As soon as they force us out of our small ball lineup you can bet De La Rosa comes in. Personally, I hate Hall and De La Rosa on the court together but if it's ever going to work this might be the game because UCLA might not double Hall every time he catches it. So Hall may actually have more room to work inside then he normally does. If De La Rosa is hovering around the hoop and Hall has to try to deal with a 7-footer and a 6'10" guy inside it will be tough though. Where this lineup could really hurt us is on defense. UCLA shoots a ton of threes and we've seen the lineup with those two struggles to rotate and cover the corner three. However, a lot of this depends on how well UCLA has gameplanned for us. De La Rosa and Hall played OK together during the non-conference part of the season which, in my opinion, was because those teams didn't know our individual limitations as well as MAC teams do. So if UCLA hasn't planned to exploit that lineup, then it might just work. At least for a while.
But, my guess is it won't. So then that leaves us with needing another big man next to Hall (or De La Rosa when Hall's out) and it needs to be someone that's mobile. Pippen is the only guy on the roster with the height, length, jumping ability, and mobility to provide that. So back to my original point, the way I see it playing out, I think he could end up being the key for us.
Avoiding foul trouble for Hall, Edwin, and Walker will also be key.

I guess I have to agree with you. UCLA is the Rodney Dangerfield of the NCAA tournament. Oh the horror of it all.

anti-zip I will be watching for these things. I disagree with you regarding UCLA not doubling Hall if DLR is in the game. I imagine they will double him all night regardless.

You might be right. I'm thinking that they won't respect us enough to believe they can't guard Hall one-on-one. I'm hoping they feel that way at least.

Ha, Barkley was wearing a Kent jersey on tv tonight. Said he's going to wear the opposing team's jersey every game until UCLA loses because of LeVar Ball.

90 seconds in and Hall picks up his first foul. Careful now.

The second foul, if you noticed, would never have happened had he made that free throw. It looked like Sendy was ready to get him out to steal an extra 60 seconds for a rest before the media timeout. Ah well.
This my friends is big boy basketball. UCLA can run the floor, pass the rock and shoot it too.

Dirty play...Low bridging a star player when he's up in the air for an alley-oop...Yes, watch it...your guy moves under him...not playing defense, just trying to take him out.

Just a reminder that the "ignore" feature is available and relatively easy to figure out. Nice hearing from ya Bruin Steve.

Watch it again *******. Zabo just stood his ground. The pass was off the mark and Ball had to try to reach over him. Definitely no intent on Zabo's part.

They are playing hard. I was having bad reminders of the UNLV tournament game after UCLA went up 16-2, but Kent has settled down and playing their game.

I don't mean this in a negative way but #40 Welsh looks like a young Odo from Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

If I keep pouring drinks everyone in this room is going to look like young Odo. But I do respect the comparison!
And did the "expert" from TruTV just say that slowing it down is not in Kent State's DNA. hmm.
