Who would you hire? I'm open to other suggestions.

Kevin Ollie is looking for a job. Why not just hire him?

He just took a national top 5 program and destroyed it. Paul Hewitt is probably looking too. No thanks.

I hear that Rick Pitino will promise to never, ever again do anything shady.

I wouldnt hire anyone this year. Hypothetically, if the job was open, I would have to look at the candidates. At the salary Jones gets, there isnt going to be anyone good available.
In a perfect world, I would prolly go danny hurley but hes P5 soon. I would also have to wait out FBI investigation to see everyone involved.
Rice (would have have to look at baggage), Moton, Baker Dunleavy are off top of my head.

At Jones's salary, you have to either take a risk on an assistant or low major, or hire someone with personal baggage like Blaine or ethical baggage like a Stansbury.

This. Unless my program was completely in shambles, I would hang tight to see which coaches get caught up in this FBI mess. What good does it do, if you hire a head coach, and then 8 months later, find out he has a show cause.

I have no problem hiring a good coach on parole. Desperation and weekly drug screenings are the keys to coaching excellence.

RE: The official Jeff jones hot seat thread
I just don't get it. Some people want a coach who is more demonstrative, someone who wildly waves his arms around during the games. To me, that would be a coach who is unprepared. Wildly waving your arms around happens in practice. That's when preparation happens. In practice, I can run scenarios and plays where people get open for shots. What I can't do is shoot the ball for you or the freethrow. I am not a total Jeff homer though. I feel justified blaming him for not building the depth needed to win. During blowouts he needed to play the younger guys. No need for Caver to play 37 minutes a game. Although, he says guys aren't ready. I have no choice but to trust the coach with that opinion.

Moton's done a pretty credible job at N.C. Central; even in a down year they're playing Hampton in the MEAC final. I pegged him as a dark-horse candidate for N.C. State last season and while that may have been too big a jump, I definitely could see him at an ODU-level program.

I think even bottom level CUSA teams would be competitive in the MEAC.

Perhaps, but Moton is also working with MEAC resources, not CUSA resources. NC Central just won their second straight NCAA trip and third since 2014. There's always a risk when a coach moves up a weight class (see Anthony Evans moving from NSU to FIU) but I think someone would be wise to roll the dice on him.

Speaking of which, did anyone watch the MEAC game on TV? Optics were very impressive. Camera work and some signage behind the benchs made it look pretty big time. Good job MEAC and Scope. Far cry from the joke of a game setting we're putting forth for the handful of random viewers who may stumble on the championship game.

But everyone else’s are ready to play. Jeff must know more than every other head coach.

I like Moton. he is a popular guest on Raleigh sports talk radio, which says a lot since he coaches just down the street from Williams and Coach K. Seems to be class guy from what I can tell.
