More jobs for Canada. Lower prices for American natgas producers....
Keystone is worse for the natgas patch than it is for the environment.
so Canadians are going to come and build the pipeline here in the states?
So you trade 300 temp jobs for 3,000 permenent ones. Great. And that's before the impact of a flood of cheap Canadian product comes down the pipeline, undercutting American producers.
We are basically building an access road for our competitor to beat us on price.
This is stupid.
A road to send those products to our refineries in Tulsa and Houston where we will turn the raw material into value added products.
Where that product will simply displace American crude (or crude we're already importing from other countries to refine and export) going into those refineries. There's no more demand....just more supply with Keystone/Dakota. Who gives a f*** if we import oil from Colombia or Canada to put into a refinery before we refine it for export to China? Either way, the additional supply WILL cause more competition for American producers, with marginal permanent job creation here in the USA. The permanent jobs will be in Canada.
That, combined with allowing American firms to help Russia unlock massive reserves in their Arctic, will create a glut. This has negative ramifications for US strategic positioning, global stability, and most importantly, the energy sector and its workers in the United States.
Obama was, smartly in my opinion, using the environmentalists to protect American workers. Oil at $30 a bbl isn't good for anyone.
How delusional can you get? Obama wanted as much as Hillary to throw people out of work in the hydrocarbon industry. That was one of his goals as president, to make the industry smaller.

And those refineries don't just make gasoline. Hydrocarbons are used to make all kinds of chemicals.
