Side note, gotta tip the cap to #22 St. John's, who is 7-0. They face their toughest competition to date today with a game at #8 UNCheat. Well, that is, if they can get it in.

Like a lot of northern teams, the Johnnies have to play their first 16 games away from home. Their home opener is scheduled for Mar. 18 against Holy Cross.

Don't know about the last few years, but back in the day St. John's always had a pretty good program, producing guys like Frank Viola among others.

Yep. They are normally a strong program.

RE: JMU Baseball
FWIW, St. John's defeated UNCheat yesterday in Chapel Hell to stay undefeated.

Buffalo, who comes into H'burg for 3 this weekend, is 3-3 on the season. They went 1-2 at Tennessee-Martin opening weekend and then followed this past weekend with a 2-1 series win at Murray State.

In Buffalo's 3 wins, they have scored 10+ runs in each. In their 3 losses, they have scored 0, 3, and 4 runs.

Looks like clear (though cool/cold) weather expected for the Diamond Dukes' home opening weekend.

edit note: odd to me, but somehow in this very young season Buffalo is #5 in the RPI. http://warrennolan.com/baseball/2017/rpi-live

Thanks for providing the link because I definitely didn't believe you. They apparently have the 2nd ranked SOS.

In Dukes related news, we are 52 in RPI, and Warren Nolan is projecting us having a 43-11, 18-4 record this season. I think we would all be very excited if that projection came true.

Assuming we are using the Pythagorean expectation as his predictor it's now at 39-15 with 16-6 in conference

Go Dukes. Need a quick start today to shake some rust off probably from a week off. Plus getting ahead on a northern team usually helps this early in the year.

Diamond Dukes down 2-0 in the top of the 1st (Buffalo homer). Buffalo with 2 more guys on with 1 out. Shaky start for the Good Guys.

Dukes digging an early hole. Down 4-0 in the 1st. Not the way Coach Ike wanted the home opener to start.

Hopefully, the offense gets us back in this. Plenty of time.

Their pitcher has an ERA of about 8. Hopefully he won't get on track against us.

Withers having a rough start to this game. HR and a single to start the 2nd after giving up 4 in the first.

Two walks and a wild pitch to start the 3rd. Runners and 2nd and 3rd with no outs for the Bulls.

Dukes with a solid start bottom of the third... two on with no outs. Plenty of time.
