RE: JMU Baseball
I'm sure after one more week, CCU won't even be ranked as the defending champions. That has to be some kind of record for fastest drop pack to the non-ranked D1 field for a defending champion. A quick decline.

Meanwhile, defending champ Coastal is 4-4 and is barely in the rankings at 23. If our pitching can be consistent this is going to be a VERY dangerous team, given our offense's track record.

And, yes, I know consistent pitching in college is a bit of a nebulous term, but I am thinking a team ERA in the 4-5 range. If we give up 5 runs a game, I have no doubt our offense can score 6. Currently, we are averaging 7.6 runs/game with a team ERA of 3.34. My biggest concern is our strikeout rate; currently the team strikes out twice as often as they draw walks. Not sure how important that is to Ike given the aggressive approach we seem to have at the plate, but I'd like that rate to be cut to maybe 1.5 by the time the CAA schedule starts.

The SO/BB ratio definitely needs to come down, but if we are not have trouble getting on base (so far this hasn't been too bad!) then Coach may not be pressing on that issue too much. Gotta love this start but cannot count the chickens before they hatch!

Wasn't too long ago we were losing to a lot of these lower level teams, so this is trending in the right direction. Go Dukes!

Back to Back mid-week games would be very tough for our pitching staff I think, without impacting the pitching staff for the upcoming weekend. I think this actually plays into JMU's hands to go get a P5 win against Maryland. I don't care the record, P5 win is a P5 win.

I guess the rain is going to come down and wash the spiders out.

I'm sure you're right seeing as you're WAY more informed on this than me, but I prefer to think Richmond begged out of the series. Because they're scared. Because I hate them.

Richmond was totally scared of the rain. Spiders have been known to do that, or so the children's songs say.

That was reported in the Richmond paper last week. As much as I hate ticks, Mother Nature was the reason the game was cancelled today.

Yea I saw they had been suspended in the paper, but I don't think they had disclosed the reason.

Unfortunate either way. let's hope they can get the Maryland game in tomorrow!

Nothing can be done quickly to discipline Louisville basketball for their offenses, but 5 baseball players are suspended for a Fantasy Football entry. Pretty clear the NCAA has the priorities totally screwed up.

This is why I hate the NCAA. They suspend some kids (granted they are Ticks, but still) for playing Fantasy Football, but Rick Pitino is still good to coach Louisville, Penn State gets their wins, records, and program's luster back, and, most egregious of all, BAYLOR GETS TO KEEP THEIR FOOTBALL TEAM AND IAN MCCAW CAN BE AN AD IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING FIRED!!!! The NCAA is so pissed about what happened there that they will probably suspend a bunch of players from Kennesaw State next fall for accepting free pencils.

Get your $h!t together, NCAA. Go Dukes.

The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky it will probably slap another two years probation on Cleveland State.’’ .....Jerry Tarkanian

Truer words were seldom spoken. I'm seeing it firsthand down here with UNC.

Game today at Maryland has been moved up an hour to a 3pm first pitch. That is, if they can get it in.
