Incorrect. 60 years goes to 1956. Army went 8-0-1 in 1958 with a Heisman winner.
Try again.

So let me get this straight, UMASS = quality opponent, but NMSU = Loser Land?
And the last great point of pride is from 1958?
And 58 years can't round up to six decades?

Guys leave our Army buddy alone. After all they finally beat Navy this season. It took them what 13 games to do it?

HOOD, do you post on this board anymore other than to take jabs at SBC members? I thought I remembered there being some real comments coming from your direction at one point.

RE: ULL schedules H-H with NMSU in 2018
Honestly, army would be a good watch here in las cruces. Lots of old veterans here and we really respect the academy's here. Not to mention lots of ppl know who NMSU is. Especially my generation, y'all have to remember we play a lot of video games and do things online. NMSU was in every single NCAA video game, not that that really matters. However, millions who bought that game may have ran into us on the game at one point. NMSU will be fine. I think we can actually do better as an Indy. Especially if our basketball keeps doing good how it's has this year we can use them as a part of our package. Come play us at our house and we may send a top 25 basketball program, and a program who has been in the NCAA tourney for almost an entire decaded now to your house. It work for equally lowly UMASS and they had 6 home games this year and a home game against Miss St. Also if programs like Cal, Or St, and BYWHO have been here I seriously doubt that Army wouldn't. Lol

And BTW if we are going six decades back New Mexico A&M (NMSU now) was #17 in the country and had two undefeated seasons something that not a lot of programs can say. Plus we are undefeated in bowls game haha (2-0) and we have some winning records agaisnt P5 schools

Also you say we have no history in NCAA football. However, that statement is false. A NMSU football game was one of the first games to be broadcasted over the radio. #GunsUp #WobbleOn

Also, NMSU and ULL could have potential became conference rivals. Since joining we've had the hand in our games sitting at 2-1 agaisnt them since re-joining. Y'all should have kept us in the Sun Belt. I fell like recruiting in the south is easier for us over the west coast. Las Cruces has more of an appeal to southerners Than to the Hollywoods.

And, FT. Bliss, part of which is in New Mexico, is on of their largest bases.
Those soldiers can travel to Texas for our annual games there. We recruit in Texas.
Have you ever been to the State of Texas? From Ft. Bliss to UT is roughly the same distance as Charlotte, NC to Bangor Maine. From Ft. Bliss to Rice or UNT is about like Savanna, Ga. to Houston.
The closest Texas school to NMSU other than UTEP is Texas Tech in Lubbock around 360 miles one way.

Wow. That blows my mind. Maine to Charlotte is a multi day drive unless you're really, really committed.

Quick trivia for you: If you live in Dalhart, Texas [right on the Texas/Oklahoma Panhandle border] you live closer to Winnipeg, Manitoba than you do to Brownsville, Texas.
If you live in Texarkana, you live closer to Detroit than to El Paso.
If you live in El Paso, you live closer to Orange County, California than to Orange County, Texas.

How about this? In 2000 (that's just a mere 16 years ago) NMSU beat Army 42-23 in........? Yep, that's right! Las Cruces, NM to even the series at 1 and 1. It seemed your administration had no problem then.

Do you or anybody know what happens if they don't get a full schedule or 5 home games? Will they be on probation? Getting 11 instead of 12 games may not be an issue but right now only have 2 home games scheduled for 2018 (NM and Wyo). I'm sure there is a FCS team they could grab quickly for third home game. If they could get UMass at home for 2018, then that will be a fourth home game. That leaves at least 1 game to try to hunt for a FBS team to play at NMSU in 2018.
But that still leaves 6 or games to find on the road.
Quote:Bamford did not write off a possible meeting with New Mexico State in 2019 because, like Moccia, Bamford doesn’t know what the future in conference realignment holds. But it won’t be in 2018 when NMSU’s Sun Belt Conference membership expires. UMass has only a FCS game to complete its 2018 schedule.
Bamford said UMass has six open dates in 2019 but will not schedule further until at least next summer or unless it becomes clear UMass will remain an independent past 2018.
“I would never close the door on any opportunity,” Bamford said. “It’s a far enough time away that I don’t know what the status is going to be for us. I don’t want to stack 10 or 12 games and then have to get out of those games.
“I put together a 2016 schedule a summer ago with less than a year to the season so I’m not worried about three years away.”
...
Bamford said geography and putting his team on the field in competitive games in an effort to become bowl eligible are the two factors that built his schedule. UMass has Group of Five home-and-home contracts with Sun Belt members Troy, Appalachian State and Georgia Southern. The eastern Sun Belt and Conference USA schools make sense for UMass in the same sense that western Sun Belt and C-USA and Mountain West programs make sense for the Aggies.
Hope it's different and the western SunBelt teams schedule NMSU. The MAC teams did not want to share the football money, but the unspoken issue is the MAC did not want us to develop and pass them by like UCF and Temple. Hence only Ohio would schedule us.

NMSU has 3 games scheduled for 2018....@Minn, Wyomng, @ULL. They'll need 8 more plus a FCS.
They probably need six more. Barring a sudden unforeseeable change in tradition (certainly not impossible), NMSU will play UTEP and New Mexico.
They ought to go ahead and schedule UMass as often as possible. They both just need games.
Also, if I was Georgia Southern's AD, I would be working on a series with NMSU, too. GS seems to have struggled to get home and homes, and the Aggies would surely agree to one with the Eagles.
Glad to see this matchup.
Is BYU all booked up?

Well, Ft. Bliss, a major army base with over 30,000 soldiers is just down the road from NMSU. Seems a much better place to go than most.
