RE: 2018 Official Recruiting Thread
This guys name came up a while ago as a possible transfer from Notre Dame. Looks like it's not going to happen.
"South Alabama new home for ex-Notre Dame DB Spencer Perry"

Homewood (Ill.) Flossmoor senior inside linebacker recruit Mario Wright (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) has been focused on his team this summer along with looking harder at his recruiting and college options. Wright II checks in and discusses his latest recruiting news here.
"Lately we've been working hard in team camp," Wright II said. "I'm really excited about this team and I can't wait to get our season going."
Wright II also recapped his latest recruiting news.
"I'be been looking harder at everything. I'm still not 100 percent sure but it could also be coming to a close soon. I would say that I'm a slight lean right now to NIU. Once Jeff (Griffin) decided to commit to NIU I've been looking harder at NIU. NIU is close to home and I also know a lot of people who are going to NIU already."
Wright II who has a Top 6 schools list wants to see a few schools in person soon.
"I still need to get back out to NIU for a visit. I didn't get to really see any of the campus when I went up for the camp. I want to see the campus and also get a chance to learn more about the academic side at NIU. I'm also looking at also getting out to visit Western Kentucky. Western Kentucky is in my Top 6 and is one of the schools I haven't seen in person. Western Kentucky is a good program and online it also looks like a nice school."
So when could Wright II make his college decision?
"I'm hoping to get out to make those visits around the 4th of July. We have a break from team camp and I'll get to NIU first then Western Kentucky."
Mario Wright II has multiple scholarship offers.

Just tweeted that "his commitment is on the way".
We'll know soon....

One thing I would say is that it should not be underated that we now host the football state championships every other year. We get kids from HF and other championship schools on site and they get to use and view our facilities. No coach can talk to them at that point however it's an up front experience for a potential recruit.

While I'll agree it can be a positive tool and a plus, it's overstating the importance to believe that alone tips the recruiting scale.
No. 1, is the kid who is impressed so much by our facilities mean the coaches can't pass if they don't believe he can help or is a fit? No. 2, so every other year we're missing out on a kid because it is in Shambanana land? No. 3, how can the best male and female track athletes ever go anyplace but Eastern Illinois? No. 4, is it all uphill for Lisa Carlsen because IHSA girls basketball titles are decided at Redbird Arena? Same for volleyball? Does Monty even know the Convo hosts Super-Sectional games every year? Why doesn't Bradley dominate men's basketball recruiting in the state let alone versus ISU or SIU in the MVC? Does the memory of a crushing defeat perhaps make an impressionable kid relive the nightmare upon seeing Huskie Stadium? If it does, then I hope he signs with WMU, UT, CMU, BSU or EMU.

Charles Robinson 6'3'" 210 lbs. TE from Illinois is leaning our way with 247 sports giving us an 80% chance. He is rated as a 3* and would be our highest rated recruit if we can nab him! He list us as "warmer" as opposed to Minn. as "warm". They offered him after us, so it would be nice to snag one from P.J.

Do we have à shot?
We just offered him, and it looks like he was a teammate of Drequan Brown, so yes.

Joseph Bonds just tweeted that he is visiting NIU this weekend. 3 star instate LB who just decommitted from WMU earlier this week. Would be a great addition to the class

Any word on how his visit went? I would imagine watching the team win usually helps.

Wow...so Daviyon Nixon, a commit of ours this past year that flipped to Iowa at the last minute, just got offered by Alabama... (he ended up not getting into Iowa and went JUCO)
Man, having an Alabama caliber DL in DeKalb would have been something. Never thought I’d see the day

Deion Hallmon supposedly had FSU, Auburn, Arkansas, Clemson, Ole Miss, Miss St., Wisconsin, WVa and other offers. Looking at how he panned out, I'd be interested to know how many of those were legit. Either way, Nixon would've been a good get, but there's no telling what he would've done at NIU.

There’s still time for him to change his mind. Lol
Early signing period is Dec 20-22.
