Yes, but since we want our coach to go now, we probably don't stand a chance.
We should probably spend the next few weeks talking about what a wonderful coach he is and see what happens.

Satterfield also has (I think) 2 sons in high school. He's said he wants them both to graduate where they are.

RE: Blake Anderson Apparently Candidates for Baylor, Houston
Many people I know that went to App, wishes they could still live up there, but job opportunity is very limited. I know I would take a 40% pay cut to live up there, but there isn't anything in my field up there that would even pay that much. Satterfield, being a former player, has even more of a connection to Boone and the football program, especially since he basically got his coaching career started there. Add, as mentioned above, that his kids are in high school, and his wife is also an alum, it's not surprising that it would take a huge offer to get him to leave. Look at Jerry Moore, a legendary coach at App for over 20 years. Got paid very little and didn't even consider leaving, in fact, when it came down to it, he had to be forced out.

a
State will be fortunate for Anderson to leave. Get a $2 million buy out and the opportunity to hire better. Anderson is a limiting factor to A-State football as long as he is the head coach. I cannot believe State will be that lucky however but he is a much better interviewer than a coach.

Don't ever fool yourself into believing that a school is so great, kids are in school, wife loves the town, etc.... so our coach is in no hurry to leave. All of them are waiting on the right offer and they are gone. They will sadly announce they are leaving before they announce that God called them to the best job on the planet.

When Satt leaves it will be a sad day for App fans (maybe the worst I can remember), but it will be for a good reason and I'll be happy for Scott and for what he's done for App since 1991.

I did not disagree with this, in fact, I said as much. However, I believe that right offer will be fairly lucrative.

Here's the thing.
There are media dudes who put together lists of people who are or they think ought to be candidates. Seriously I've seen people listed for AState openings that I knew weren't even on the long list.
At some point you would think some random writer out there would put his name on a list.

I was hoping HCNB would be another LB and be here for 20 plus years. But I'd take one more but would love many more HCNB teams for Troy.

agree, I hope SS stays another 5 years, but the reality is, when a solid, P5 school offers, you accept, notice I said P5, other than maybe Houston, I don't think their is an AAC school that he would really consider. Could be wrong, just going on what I have heard from SS thru the years on him and his wife strong ties to the school, their desire to raise his family near the grandparents, and the fact Apps a really strong G5 program, with a solid foundation moving forward.

Troy has a great coach, wish he would stay atleast one more year, I understand that a coach has to be selfish and do whats best for himself and his family, but, it was just starting to really turn around for Troy, if he would just hang around for a year or two longer and strengthen the foundation, the next coach, would have a much easier transition.

If, worst case for Troy, CNB was to leave already is there a younger (hard to do) up and coming assistant of his that might be ready to stay around and try to keep some continuity? Or would they all want to go with him for the higher payday?

I seem to remember Troy get an influx of players from UAB when they went through the football/nofootball period. Are those guys part of this team?

Jon Sumrall Asst Head Coach/LB/Special Teams Coordinator is a possibility but he is a defensive guy. I could also see Matt Moore co-OC/OL coach given an opportunity.
