I'm actually impressed Joey has kept us in so many games after losing so many critical players this year, including our QB for a big part of the year. Next year, however, is put up or shut up. If we win less than 7 games next year, his seat will be on fire.

I thought you guys played well. Defended our passing game better than most we played this year. Some explosive offensive players. Seemed like you wore out at the end of the game and we ran over you a little bit -- kinda the reverse of our game from last year. But overall you don't seem very far away from being really, really good.

FBS independence is possible just ask UMASS. They might have to take 4 money games a year but it would be worth it IMO.

It wouldn't be 4 money games. Independence means we'd miss out on CFP money, which is about $1 million. That's 1 extra money game. Right now we usually play 1, occasionally 2. So 2-3, to fit into a schedule with no conference opponents. Extremely doable.

Even if Big Sky and FCS is inevitable, other than EWU, you guys could dominate. Montana and Montana State both looked like dog doody in 2016 with both missing the playoffs. But I would love to see you get a MWC invite.

We won't dominate the Big Sky. If we have another good season next year Petrino will leave and take his coaches with him rather than accept an undeserved demotion, a certain salary freeze and maybe even a pay cut, plus a shrunken staff budget. We'll start over with the same indifferent administrators, a brand new coaching staff and QB and an angry donor base. It's either find somehow, some way to stay FBS and capitalize on this success or doom ourselves to becoming a middling-to-bad Big Sky team.
