LAFAYETTE – Football officials from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette announced on Wednesday an agreement to a playing date against the University of Alabama for the 2018 season.
Louisiana and Alabama, a 16-time national champion and member of the Southeastern Conference, will meet on Sept. 29, 2018 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The meeting between the schools will be the ninth in a series (that dates back to 1941) with Alabama claiming the previous eight contests.
The meeting will also be the first between the teams since Oct. 6, 1990 when Alabama claimed a 25-6 win at Cajun Field.
"To play against one of the most iconic names in college football, along with competing in one of the top venues in the country is an exciting opportunity for both our team and our fanbase," Louisiana Director of Athletics Scott Farmer said. "With their rich history and tradition, our fans will be very anxious to attend that game."
The game for Louisiana is the second non-conference game announced for the 2018 season with the Ragin' Cajuns scheduled to face fellow SEC member Mississippi State on Nov. 3, 2018 in Starkville
