Actually no, that's quite unusual compared to what we've been used to seeing for about the last 5+ years. That's just the reality of recruiting these days. It's not necessarily time to panic, but it's enough to raise an eyebrow.

I agree it doesn't feel all that "normal" but I am not sure we have the sheer number of scholarships this year as compared to previous years... I could be wrong... but it feels like over the last two years we have really kept attrition to a minimum... who knows... maybe that is contributing to this slower start...

Having the depth on the team we have right now makes it difficult to play the "we have immediate play time for you" card.... We have quite a few speed positions stacked up... and if you look at the next couple years its going to be hard to crack the high profile positional starting chart...

It’s part of the cycle. In 2015 & ‘16 there were back to back classes of 27 talented recruits. Those players are now vying for PT. Not an ideal situation for kids that are wanting to get into action as true Fr.

Looks very comfortable in the pocket and throwing downfield when the play breaks down. Not afraid to get blasted to make a long throw.

Plus, his first name is Peyton... er... Payton!

He looks like a solid QB. Can't wait to see Boone Bonnema flatten him behind the line.

I was also going to say I really want #4 too, but, uh, I think that is Jayden Reed, so we got it covered, lol. Nice to have some built-in chemistry and trust.

Well that’s great for you guys... too bad he’s gonna wash out and inevitably be replaced by another 5th year transfer in an effort to make a bowl game... I mean it works once in awhile...

What a recruiting coup that was for coach B. Beat out such powerhouses as: Illinois...State, Indiana...State-AKA Larry Birds school in case you need to google it, got a little ahead of myself thought you beat a couple B1G teams for him. At least there were some MAC schools in the mix like Eastern...Kentucky-my bad , BiGSUe - I’m sure they have a fine campus, Western...no offer, don’t forget the Morgan state bears and Norfolk state Spartans-yes I had to use the internet to find out what their mascots were. Score one for the chimps. Priority QB = lowest rated of the 8 offered

Dequan Finn had offers from Air Force, BGSU and Arkansas State in addition to CMU. He will be a 3-year varsity starter for Detroit King and led the Crusaders to the state title as a sophomore.

Glad you were able to comprehend the same report that I read. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that HUGE Arkansas state offer, what conference are they in? Yeah, Air Force, they canvas the country for a QB that can run the 3-option and are willing to commit to 8 years of service, I think it’s a great offer and awesome campus, but it takes a special individual to make those sacrifices, it’s not the right fit for everyone. Whatever makes you feel better dude.

Grandson of Lester's HS HC. Son of Jeff Thorne who Lester was targeting before John's was hired.

It’s a compliment of the kids character. But then I can see where you’d be uncomfortable. 07-coffee3

WR Marshawn Foster out of Chicago with a verbal commitment tonight. Tall, lanky guy whose only offers thus far are us and Illinois State. Will need to put some good weight on when he gets to campus.

I like that he includes several blocking highlights on his most recent Hudl video, including one real hustle play from across the field on a punt return that busted a touchdown (4:40). He's got a couple of hustle plays on defense playing safety as well. Reminds me of Kendrick Roberts.

You guys Boone Boonema is the most West Michigan name I've ever heard of. I think he's destined for greatness. Really wanna add a Van in there though. Right in the middle between the Boones. Boone Van Boonema.
