It'll be sweet to hang our NC and Final Four banners there for a few months. That'll be as close as that place ever gets to seeing one of them.

There are no parking hassles downtown and UC will never hang in banners inside Cintas.

Free parking at / near Cintas v. $10-$20 parking downtown.

Signe me up for Cintas.

PNC Center garage is $5 for so-called "special events" -- a much better price than I pay in that garage for my monthly spot -- a cool $280/month.

Pretty close to the daily event rate based on 22 work days a month.

Still very cheap parking compared to other markets.

22 x $5 = $110

Bohn is just floating this Xavier nonsense in an attempt to get a better deal from the Coliseum/US Bank......They'll play in the Armory Fieldhouse before they would use Xavier's building.

Put our own floor down and reprogram the scoreboards and sign boards and it will be fine.

Let's hope this isn't even on the table. Talk about losing more UC fans.

Why not?

A good arena a few miles from campus? Good for student access.

Get over your X hate and get onboard what is best for UC.

My hate? I am just stating the obvious. A great portion of this fanbase will not support them in that arena. My only issue is this will benefit Eggs to a certain degree. For some odd reason UC has to always bend over backwards for Eggs, however the same is not reciprocated towards UC.

Just as UC would line their pockets in the return gesture when X is working on Cintas. The most petty and minor issues seem to be the problem with people against this option. The fact that it is the best option for UC doesn't seem to matter.

What is the issue with NKU's arena? IMO the best place to watch college bball in the local area. That arena never receives enough credit locally.

I agree. NKU would be my #1 choice....Only b/c US Bank is such a dump.

Scheduling for 2 bball teams (plus women's?) who are also at the mercy of their opponents' scheduling constraints, and any other events that the arena normally hosts would seem to be pretty tricky. I hope they decide soon.

I actually agree with both of your posts. Regarding, NKU, many Ohioans still see that river as ten miles wide. I suspect the only time some cross it is for trips to the airport or the foot of the bridges for discount liquors. Northern Kentucky now has some of the most attractive, convenient 'burbs to Downtown with quality schools and amenities. The NKU arena is an excellent facility and the difference in travel time from anywhere to that facility vs. 5th/3rd shouldn't be more than 15 minutes.

Old perceptions die hard. As UC fans, we decry that all the time when it comes to our university and campus. I'd take NKU over X hands down for a one year deal.

I figured it had more to do with UC being an Ohio state school, so they should play their home games within the state.

You're adding another 10-15 minutes of transit for games -- which sucks if you're already coming 30 minutes from the northern exurbs. It's also a bigger hassle for students in Clifton to get to NKY than it is to get to Norwood.

Plus, it's Kentucky. Unless you're going to the Party Source, there's no compelling reason to cross the river ever.

I know you're making a joke, but even as someone who grew up in Cincinnati, it's still so odd to me how provincial and divided the metro area is.

Fwiw for those suggesting NKU is an easy 10 minutes from UC Google Maps estimates 21 minutes right now. Traffic certainly could be worse on a game day. Tack 25 extra minutes on a commute and that becomes a reason not to go during the winter months with poor weather. X is close enough to UC the difference would be insignificant. The choice should be between Cintas and US Bank.

I can get from downtown to NKY Univ. quicker than I can get from Downtown to Hyde Park. Unless you are driving at peak rush hour, its a quick drive. UC doesn't play many games at 6:00 on weeknights last I checked.

I am coming from West Chester and have no issues making the trip to NKU. As Rath stated, unless your talking rush hour, getting from Cincy to Northern KY is easy and not as long as many suggest.

It can and should be U.S. Bank. My guess is that they just need to work out a reasonable rental agreement, but U.S. Bank needs more tenants and it needs to fill up its too many open dates with no live events. UC can offer them about 16-18 dates, including a few with crowds that could reach 15,000, such as UCONN, Memphis and maybe Temple. If U.S. Bank doesn't get too greedy, which they might do given that they may still be annoyed that UC chose to renovate 5/3rd rather than go in on a rehabbed downtown Arena, then this gets worked out.

You are only considering men's basketball. A place also needs to be found for women's basketball, volleyball and other sports or functions that use fifth-third.

RE: No Gardens for UC
When I worked for UC I lived in Bighland Heights. That is an easy trip and an excellent venue. Even during rush hour I never had many problems.

US Bank is too big. It was a real struggle sometimes just to sell UConn and Memphis. Realistically I don't see any sell outs if we play down there, the venue seats too many people. Those early games are going to be really ugly. That's the one thing about 5th/3rd is that the upper level hid a lot of empties during those games because of the rafters.

NKU would be great especially with their group sales party decks in the corners. Those would be a tremendous opportunity for someone to sell tickets in the office.
