There will be no new football stadium in St. Louis. The current Dome at America's Center will either be remodeled to be better for conventions and trade shows or will be demolished and replaced with a building intended for conventions and trade shows.

The only stadium that might be considered is a 25,000 seat futbol stadium for Major League Soccer. There are currently two proposals.

St. L has been burned twice by the NFL, time to try something else.

Goof,

Doesn't it make sense??

- St Louis needs a team.
- No current NFL franchises can possible say "No. We own the St Louis market, so we declare that no NFL team can go there", because there was already a team there.
- St Louis is actually fairly close to Louisville and Nashville, which would be division rivals.

Makes sense to me.

Saint Louis does not need a team except in the minds of a handful of politicians and some of the wealthy. Most people no longer want a team.

BTW, the Jaguars were supposed to the the Saint Louis Stallions. However, the prospective ownership group favored by the NFL was not the group who held the rights to the then TWA Dome. So, the franchise went to Jacksonville to the surprise of almost everyone.

Bah. Jacksonville is a failure and putting them in London, alone in Europe, is a mistake. Move them to St Louis, dang yous! 04-cheers

I would agree the AFC south would make more sense geographically if the Jags moved to St Louis. The Jags moving to London would really mess up that division geographically.

If NFL ever added an expansion team to St Louis I wonder what division they would be in.

There will be no NFL team in Saint Louis unless they build their own stadium without any public assistance, and that includes property tax reductions. It just isn't politically acceptable any with any tax dollars.

lew,

I can absolutely understand that STL tax payers are pissed off that the NFL took the Rams away from them.

You say Jacksonville is a failure, yet suggest they put a team in a twice failed market? I realize LA failed twice but it is freaking LA.

Jacksonville's issue is that it is boxed in on every side, thus a team should have never moved there in the first place.

A London team would be an issue for any division, even the East divisions, who have one team that is about as far from London as it is from Cartegena, Colombia.

At the very least, A London Jaguars team would have to move to an East division, probably the AFC east.

At that point the NFL might as well dissolve the AFC south, move the Jags to the AFC East, the Colts, Titans to the North, and the Texans to the west.

Houston's not a western city but that's not as much of an issue in the NFL as it is in MLB. God, playing two time zones away sucks, especially when the Astros had more legit rivalries in the NL.

Kansas City does not seem to mind, but I see your point

That's what happens when MLB is led by a team owner out of Milwaukee and he wants to play the Cubs and not the White Sox.

RE: Kansas City

It doesn't matter as much in the NFL. I suppose they'd fit in better in the AFC North or South but there isn't a single team that's close to them in either of those divisions, so it's a wash.

As for Bud Selig, yes, that's terrible but they finally found the leverage to move a team and even the leagues. The Astros had been against such a move for years because they preferred to play most of their games in the Central and Eastern Time Zones. Obviously, at least 5 teams would have been better to move to the AL, mostly because they were newer (Padres, Nationals, D'Backs, Marlins, Rockies).

Did the Cardinals join the AFC, or did the Titans join the ACC?
