I'm really surprised that Prairie View A&M is only halfway down the list within Texas, a supposedly conservative state. I'd expect the HBUs (like Prairie View) to be near the end of the liberal scale.

I think you'd have to make the distinction between "liberal" and voting for the democratic party.

Texas Southern is considered the 13th most conservative school in the state, two spots ahead of 15th place SMU.

RE: Rice is the most liberal school in Texas
It is a rather self-selecting survey - only 35 to 40 respondents determining how conservative Prairie View is, for example. If you tell your conservative buddies you hang out with to answer something, you can certainly swing it a few points.
Interesting in that the respondents for Rice may have been the most liberal, on average, but when weighing the overall campus, their responses showed they thought it was slightly more conservative than they themselves were.

According to this survey, beating even UT.
UT is not liberal. That's a myth.
Being the most liberal school in Texas is a low bar. I'd be very concerned if we weren't at least clearing that one.
For the record, I don't consider Rice liberal, at least not in a national context; it's about 50/50 in my estimation. Which I'm fine with. I don't think anyone should go to school in an echo chamber.

But compared to some of the more liberal schools in other places, even the least liberal school in Texas is almost certainly more tolerant.
