World War I started because of the ethnic division in the Balkans and escalated from all of the mutual defense treaties.

World War II started because a psychopath started gobbling up territory he though belonged to him to fulfill some demented imperial desire and every one else appeased him until he attacked Poland.


Either scenario can happen at this point. The same ethnic division that existed in the Balkans pre-WWI exist right now, and you have Russia and China advance their own imperialistic desires.

There will wars and rumors of wars. So yes!

As I mentioned about with the economies and other deals will make an all out WW very unlikely. I think proxy wars are the wars of now and of the future. The other kind've war in the future could be an all out race/religious war in Europe between Whites & Arabs and Christians & Muslims. The latter war won't be so much of a conventional state & allies vs state & allies but internal strife within the individual states. We're kinda already seeing this starting in Europe.

Today's climate cannot be compared with what happened in WWI. Back in the 1880's two groups of colonial nations formed alliances and one group really didn't deal with the other group in trade and such. Today China needs the US as much as the US needs China, and to a lesser extent Russia & US needs each other a ton. Then we can look at a nation like Iran and the US needs Iran as much as Iran needs the US to defeat ISIS.

I won't say things can't change within the next 30 years, but I kinda think that as technology continues to grow and the world's economy becomes one, the chances of WW goes down and dramatically. I think for a major war to break out, it's going to be over water or some resource that's completely running arid. The other trigger could be a major economic collapse on a global scale and those economic ties are severed.

So what if one needs the other. One of the major reasons the Japanese waged war against us was because of the oil embargo that we waged against them. We needed their Subarus and Nissans and still we went to war.

Ha, ha, I thought we needed a little levity on this subject. But the oil thing stands.
