He played for Dakich for 3 years of his college career and was treated fine there - but he was referring more to his pro career in Europe and the coaches he had there. My friend played under Weinert, but played golf with Dakich and knew him personally. He had no issue with him.
I also believe everyone has a different experience with a coach and whatever his style is. A lot of players hated Bobby Knight - but there were also a lot of players that loved him and his loyalty to them. I could never have stood to be coached by somebody like Knight - it was bad enough having to work for somebody like that - for about a year until he was fired.
I'm not saying anything on this again. Everybody is going to believe what they want and I'm not going to defend someone when what I heard is second hand. I believe it is reliable, but I don't know anymore than that and it is only one point of reference.

How about the Olympic wrestling trials last weekend!!!
First point - no one has to take the word of the former player because I never repeated what he said. I didn't hear it directly from him, and it was not disparaging comments he made. Just didn't like a few things that were going on.
As for the Olympic Trials, I watched dozens of matches on NBCSN and then the finals each day on NBCMS(?), There were some great matches and of course a lot of disappointment for the guys that did not make the team. I don't like the single elimination for determining the team. At two of the weights in freestyle (maybe 3) we are not sending our best wrestlers. Kyle Snyder of OSU is going, having beaten the field including 2012 gold medal winner Jake Varner. Snyder won the world title as a 19 year old in October, just won an NCAA championship as a 223lb heavyweight over 2-time defending NCAA champ Nick Gwiazdowski and now is on the Olympic team at the age of 20.
High School seniors Mark Hall and Mason Manville failed to make the team but gave a good showing. Aaron Pico at 19 should have made the team after losing in the finals thanks to a quick whistle. Brent Metcalf fails to make the team for a second time as the #1 ranked US wrestler and at the age of 29 will not likely be around for the 2020 Olympics.
Was also impressed by the women wrestlers. The US has a couple of top ranked wrestlers that could result in at least 2 golds. Some of these women wrestled in high school on the boys team and even placed as high as 4th at the state tourneys they were in. That is impressive.
