Good news, no doubt.

i think its more than a thousand? The reports in March were they were seeking 280k ft, and PP mall is about 300k. I assume they know how to allocate space for their employees. But theres a lot of common areas at the mall. Maybe that helps in their recruitment. Or maybe they outgrow it soon.

For comparison, the AutoZone HQ on South Front is about 270k square feet and there are about 1,300 employees there.

Next question...where are the Service Master folks gonna park? AutoZone has its own parking garage plus the use of a few surface lots for their 1,300 employees.

Yea, I guess I should have read the entire story. Looks like Belz is giving them free parking as part of the deal. That garage holds 1,000 cars.

Hey, I saw it here first. I check in on the CA, MBJ, and Memphis Daily News on regular basis. No body reported it.

The Store Support Center is also eight floors of workable space.

Much of Peabody place is wide open. So it will have to be completely renovated to fit an office. Right now the space isn't efficient for that purpose.

I'm sure they'll be fine over there. I'll be shocked if it doesn't turn out much nicer than the SSC.

Peabody Tower also has parking garage on its first four or five levels.

I want someone to build a full service stadium theater downtown which include IMAX. I know Malco is supposed to build one, but still no IMAX.

So theres a garage east with the Hooters on ground floor. Maybe thats dedicated to guests, but there may be extra room. It had a car bridge for valets, didnt it? I seem to recall that.

Theres a garage south, next to the Hampton, that seems to make the most sense for PP.

Then the garage west below the tower above the Saucer.

RE: ServiceMaster
Three attached (via elevated walkways) parking garages: 2nd, Peabody Place, 3rd aka B.B. King.

BTW, Peabody Place retail didn't fail because of the lack of open-air nor did it fail as mentioned in the Daily News due to the recession.

It failed because the city council passed the no cruising ordinance.

Peabody Place was vibrant and active until the ordinance passed. People began parking their cars and started hanging out at Peabody Place.

Many of these people were gang bangers. It got so bad the mall places signs at each of the entrances listing banned items. This list included gang-related clothing. It also banned weapons except for those carried by legal permit holders. Then they later banned those as well.

Our family religiously frequented the mall. Every Tiger home basketball game we would park in one of the garages, have dinner (which validated our parking pass) and went to the game.

As gang bangers started hanging out in increasing numbers the paying-customer crowds rapidly diminished.

That's why it failed. People quit spending money there because they quit going there.

I think a HQ for ServiceMaster is a far better use for Peabody Place...can't wait to see the finished product.
