RE: "Worst Student Section in the nation"
Josh is the worst leader we've ever had as a head coach. Lord knows I'd hate to work for him. It's very understandable why he continually gets less out of more. He'd fall flat on his face at a school like TCU or USC because he'd be trying to compete with programs with fewer resources than their conference mates.

What she said. Verbatim.

Narcissist said the same thing...when attendance was way down in 2005. He went after the fanbase, and hard.

Here, Pastner made an accurate comment about the lack of student attendance.

Everyone realizes 18-14 followed by 19-15 is the primary reason so many fans turned their backs on the team. But the vitriol that accompanied that and the level of non support, let alone the piling on as though the entire time he has been coach here has been terrible, can put up with a mild comment about student attendance.

All very different issues than whether here, at Memphis, the last two sub par seasons on the heels of some really good but still short of elite levels seasons should result in a coaching change. Likely should. But hopefully folks can avoid ridiculing their own if it does not.

But yes, the my insult is bigger than your insult parade will likely continue.

Pastner: "We have one of the worst student attendances in the United States of America."

@MattStarkFOX13
JP addresses student attendance, says Memphis may have the worst student attendance in all America.."it's a big area we have struggled with"

@TheCAJasonSmith
More on attendance: "If we got 2,000 students a game or 1500 (a game) like other schools), we're not talking about the (ticket) scan issue."

Its true..been that way for years.

Which part? That the students don't show up the way we did when we were students, or that culpability for our abysmal attendance should be laid at the feet of our students by our coach? Big difference there.

Even in the coliseum, the students only showed up for big games. L'ville, Cincy, Va Tech. The one constant..RADAR

This is another Josh red herring.

Wasn't it published that Duke averaged 750 students per game? Just looks like more cause the gym is small, and they are on the floor.
In general, student attendance is down across the country for football and hoops.

Last, there is a trade-off. When you put the arena downtown, you are giving up some student attendance.

Its not a very good spot to watch the game...behind the basket and all.

Does the university provide free transportation for students to and from the university that have tickets?

Is the product on the court worth watching...no, not lately.

So if Josh is back and he drives off more season ticket holders as many here have indicated, next year is the perfect opportunity to improve on the situation. Give the students the first 10 Rows of sections 104 and 115. First come, First Serve with a valid student I.D. That'll improve things.

...or just Fire the coach and the product will sell itself.

I watched the games behind the basket at the MSC. I was mezmerized.

He is daring Rudd to fire him. But neither Biwen nor Rudd can do it without getting permission first.

Even assuming they were willing to hire a coach with no booster money to sweeten the pot, the threat of risking future donations from a whale or two keeps them heeled.

They'll do as they're told if they know what's good for them.

Sad but accurate.

Yeah I think he's making a play. I hope we can get the fuckr on some kind OF-(edit) due cause clause in his contract. That would be so awesome.

The 'student section' is just some chum he threw in the water.
I wonder if he thought it up himself.
