Nerds made three 3-pointers in a row in like the first 3 mins of the first half...

And finished the game 4-24 from 3.

Brady must be giving up on Morgan. He didn't even turn to him when Curry was in foul trouble in the first half or when Grays went out in the second half. Then in the last couple minutes of the game he preferred to keep Grays in the game on defense when Grays was visibly still hobbling.

Cant put him in a close game unless team needs a jolt. Thought Brady did a masterful job with substitutions today after making a big mistake and putting Curry back in to get his third foul.

The students were great today. They stood all game and were interacting with the band. They certainly let the refs know how they felt about their performance today. By far the best student section performance of the year. I hope we make some noise in Baltimore and can keep the students interest in this program. It makes such a difference in close games to have them engaged.

RE: Nerds @ JMU predictions
This was a good win in that it showed even the backups are good enough to beat a strong CAA team. In the grand scheme, the result was irrelevant to next week's tourament and Curry even said as much in the postgame conference. However, it is always nice to send seniors out on a high note for their last game in the Convo.

I'll be honest in that I didn't think the Dukes could do it today with 3 key players out, but they backups proved me wrong. There were times when Satkus was stuck guarding Tarpey in the motion offense and he was completely overmatched, but the Tribe could not take advantage of it enough. Weird lineups, different player combos, different minutes, foul trouble for Curry, and Brady managed it expertly. Well done.

To me, today was one of the few times the Convo felt like a home court advantage this year. That should be the minimum expectation, but unfortunately we have seen an erosion of the fanbase over the Dillard and Keener years and it is hard to get them back even though the quality of play is really good. I suspect many have converted to UVA fans just over the mountain since Bennett has returned them to national prominence in the last few years. I also know that sports attendance is declining as a whole in the internet generation. It is a shame, but if things don't increase incrementally next year, the new Convo seating capacity will need to be reconsidered.

I hope you understood, when I said "with the camera on the student side", I was meaning because the camera was on the the student side all we could see was the paying seats where most everyone sat down for the entire game. I simply love seeing the students at any college game be in view, this is what separates the college atmosphere from the pro's. I totally believe everyone who has stated that the students were rocking today, but only occasionally could we see that to be the case.

BP you are right on about student seating. Duke and UVA have whole sides with students close to the floor.

Gutty and solid win by the Dukes. Crowd looked good on TV. I think the defense that JMU played was at a high level with a limited rotation of guys. In this years CAA who knows what side of the bracket you want to be on and whether it's good or bad to have to play W&M again but winning against the Tribe to end the season is a good thing and with some players rejoining the team for Baltimore we should go in with some momentum. JMU has essentially proven that they can beat W&M when the Tribe plays man (crushed W&M earlier this season when they played them man) and when they play zone (Dukes did a lot better against the zone yesterday).

what more can be said. Gutted out a win without 3 key contributors and a hobbled Grays. Just shows how deep this team is.

After losing 5 straight to the Tribe, that win was important for a lot of reasons, including giving them confidence going into the tourney.

@dutch duke - I was in the bench w the team and grays was determined to do whatever he needed to stay in the game. Incredible toughness despite tremendous pain. When Joey fouled out Grays jumped back up to go back in. I think Morgan would have played then otherwise.

@hart - it was not meaningless to the tournament. Had we lost Tribe would have been 3rd and we'd be the 5th seed playing #4 Towson - which is a much worse matchup for us. Plus even if we were to beat Towson in round 1 the phsycality of that game would make it hard to bounce back for game 2. It was a big win for our seniors, for the big crowd, on national tv, and also for the tourney pairings

I had nothing to do with it other than than staying out of the way!
We had great trainers working on him and Winston is just flat out a tough kid.
We should be proud of both.

Students will get sideline seating? That would be great for atmosphere, hope it happens. Given the fees, I think students deserve some of the premium seats if they show up and root.

RE: Nerds @ JMU predictions
I am all for good sideline student seating.....but please give the student fees thing a rest. I am pretty much sick to death of hearing this sky high student fees issue all the time. If it bothers them so much go somewhere else. JMU is an excellent value in the state of VA.

Also the students actually need to actually show up ---- for the most part they have rarely taken advantage of the expanded student seating down low this season. When they have it has been great, but that is the minority of the games.

Every game I've been to has had student seating completely full (about 3/4 games at least)

Student seating was much better in the month of Feb....particularly the Hofstra and W&M games.
