PAIRINGS SET FOR 2016 CAA MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
RICHMOND, Va. (February 27, 2016) – The pairings are set for the 2016 CAA Men’s Basketball Championship after a very competitive regular-season race, which included a tie for the regular-season title and a three-way tie for third place. The four-day tournament will be held March 4-7 at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Md.
First-round action opens on Friday as eighth-seeded Elon (16-15, 7-11 in CAA) faces #9 Drexel (5-24, 3-15 in CAA) at 6 p.m., followed by #7 College of Charleston (16-13, 8-10 in CAA) against #10 Delaware (7-22, 2-16 in CAA) at 8:30 p.m. Both games will streamed online by CAA.TV.
The CAA quarterfinals tip off at Noon on Saturday with the Elon/Drexel winner facing top-seeded Hofstra (22-8, 14-4 in CAA). At 2:30 p.m., #4 James Madison (21-10, 11-7 in CAA) takes on #5 William & Mary (19-10, 11-7 in CAA). The evening session features second-seeded UNCW (22-7, 14-4 in CAA) meeting the CofC/Delaware winner at 6 p.m., and #3 Towson (20-11, 11-7 in CAA) challenging #6 Northeastern (17-14, 9-9 in CAA) at 8:30 p.m. All four contests will be televised by the Comcast SportsNet family of networks as well as several other regional outlets.
The semifinal games of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship are set for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, with the two winners facing off for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 7. The semifinals and championship game will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network.

Notes:
Hofstra won a share of the CAA men’s basketball regular-season title for the first time, while UNCW claimed a share of the regular-season crown for the second year in a row. The two teams split their head-to-head matchups, but the Pride earned the #1 seed based on having a better record than the Seahawks against #6 Northeastern.
Towson earned the #3 seed based on its 3-1 head-to-head record against JMU and W&M. The Dukes were 2-2 and received the #4 seed and the Tribe was 1-3 and got the #5 seed.
