I do believe that many of my fellow Marshall fans have forgotten the Herd's last trip to Bham in which we escaped with a narrow victory with one of our best teams in years.

I have nothing but mad respect for Coach Clark and the job that he did prior to the team's disbanding. I look forward to seeing UAB taking the field in 2017 and only hope that's it takes a couple of years for the Blazers to get into the groove.

These are freaking recruits... some will be really good, some will be busts. Some won't qualify. Some will change their minds at the last minute and decommit, or not sign. Some will get in grade trouble, or have a scrape with the law.

Get over it. It's nothing but a damn debate over who got the better high schoold kids, and ain't a damn soul knows the answer to that for a couple of years.

As to UAB's number of recruits, we got half of what we should have last year. Getting more than normal was nothing more than simple justice.

Tell you what, I'll support you in getting all the same "advantages" UAB got. All you have to do is shut down your program, let all your players and recruits and coaches scatter to the four winds, then bring it back in a year. Then you can have the same recruiting "benefit" we got.

I got a feeling that there won't be many takers on that one.

I've said more than once, to anyone who thinks UAB is securing an unfair advantage, I invite their administration to follow the Ray Watts model of securing it.

Ready? Go.

Please tell me you didn't just compare a plane crash to the disaster known as Ray Watts.

And I wouldn't have begrudged you rebuilding the way UAB is trying to.

We weren't given an advantage, but we did get the NCAA rules changed for everyone to allow freshmen to play. And I don't begrudge UAB anything. I like UAB and am happy as all get out we didn't boot you from the conference and wish you would stay in the east so we could play you every year.

We're looking forward to being back on the field, with you guys and with the rest of the conference. I'm hoping that we can be competitive from the jump in 2017, but that's a long way from assured. We're far better off than we were, though, and we are very grateful for that. At least as long as no one gives any credit for it to Ray Watts.

I post a thread where I'm happy that some good came from the weekend and a 9 page UAB vs Marshall thread breaks out. It's almost like ECU was still here or UCF vs Everyone. Awwwww the good ole days. Memories... In the corner of my mind...

Looks like 3* TE Anthony Watley has flipped from Marshall to ECU. Not sure the story behind this… I just know that Coach Montgomery has now gotten a few guys to flip. Watley is the most recent, but that same day, he also got a 3* MASSIVE O-Lineman to flip from Cincinnati to us.

We received a commitment from another 3* tight end before he flipped.
