$5M buyout to get Bruce Pearl out of Auburn

+

$3M per year for 4 years (which Auburn would likely match or beat) to get Pearl

So... roughly $27M for our basketball coach - assuming he would be interested, which I doubt.

This is an intellectually dishonest cost, one because you are putting four years of salary in lump sump and also because the cost of anybody but Pastner is going to be at least

10 million to buyout pastner

+

2 million/year for new coach.

Also, Pearl's buyout goes down to 4 million this year in April so it's 26 million versus 18 million, not 26 million versus nothing

Fine...

$2.65M for Josh per year + $1M BP buyout (over 4 years) + $3M per year for Pearl = $6.65M per year for 4 years. That's still a lot of cash!

Plus, we won't pay more than Auburn so this is all a moot point.

I agree it's a moot point, although I don't think not paying more than Auburn will be a factor. Bridges have been burned...and so have the ships.

I can't speak to that. But I do know that there isn't a realistic amount of money we would offer BP that Auburn can't/won't match.

Again, we agree. It becomes a matter of where Pearl thinks he has the best chance of winning and getting top billing. In that case, I think Memphis, TN beats Auburn, AL.

That said, it's a moot point.
