This is becoming a real issue in the campaign now, and I wonder if it will be enough to swing Iowa to Trump.

On a side note, wouldn't it be interesting if Cruz's run were derailed by a "birther" campaign against him when a good deal of his supporters were attempting to unfairly disqualify Obama on a "birther" issue. That's a delicious slice of karma.

Natural born citizen of the US of A. I don't know how it could be any clearer.

No it isn't. The media is definitely trying to make it an issue, but it isn't.

Much like Bernie Sanders' cheating off Hillary's paper, no one cared about that either.

Cruz is taking it seriously, so it is.

Yeah, I think any attorney that is being serious with you would see this as a non-issue. In order to argue that Cruz cannot run for President, you would also need to argue his citizenship. Since he is a US Senator, that ship has sailed. The reason being is because a natural born citizen is simply one that does not require naturalization for citizenship. That means they are citizens when they are born with no further adjudication necessary. It's just that simple. It's also the reason why the Obama thing was a nonstarter (in all reality).

HOWEVER, most people aren't lawyers and this makes for a good news story...so, Cruz is now bogged down answering questions that he will never have to answer from a legal perspective. But, because perception is everything, if the average person doesn't understand and starts to have doubts, they might just vote for someone else, just in case. That is what Trump is hoping for. And so far, it has baffled me that Cruz had no planned for this obvious attack.

If you were an Obama birther you must be a Cruz birther. That's what's dragging down his campaign. Trump was King Birther and some of Cruz's followers obviously were. It's having an effect.

Look what has happened to Cruz's numbers since Donald brought it up. You are delusional if you don't think it's had an effect.

Really??!!

So, if you were against war with Bush, you should really hate Obama and his bombing of countries.

So, if you were against the Bush spending, Obama must have sent you into a coma.

So, if you were against lobbyists and special favors with Bush, you must have simply grown hoarse with all of the screaming you did at Obama.

So, if you felt that Bush lied, then Hillary and Obama must really tick you off.

Yep...people are consistent.

Though, in fairness, only a small number of people were pushing this.

Small number? Is it a requirement to be delusional to be a Republican? They had a poll last year and over 50% of Republcans didn't believe Obama was born in the US.

Plus, I don't even know what Mickey Mouse poll that is from or how they asked the question.

Also, you need to go and reread your left-leaning PPP poll that says the number is 40% that didn't believe Obama was born in the US. Also, they didn't ask any question regarding his citizenship...which is what we are all talking about here.

Ohhhhh Pharoah it was far more than just a view GOPers who were pushing the birther movement and it's coming back on the GOP in a fantastically karmic way.

Pretending? Mr. Trump has been the best thing that has happened to politics in decades. You need to get on board.

Current NBC Iowa poll
1. Ted Cruz: 28%
2. Donald Trump: 24%
3. Marco Rubio: 13%
4. Ben Carson: 11%

Quinippiac from yesterday has Trump at 31%, Cruz at 28%. Both up over last month.

Looks like there is no dent. In fact, it looks like Cruz is peaking at the right time.
