Better conference, better pay, better assistant pool, better exposure. What part do you not understand?

:lmfao::lmfao:

There was a time when both Memphis & USM were better jobs than VPI & Louisville, but that was then. This is now & Memphis & USM are no longer better jobs but clearly Memphis is the next tier up from where we just came - where USM is now. And further, USM will continue to wallow DEBT ridden in CUSA.

I like USM a great deal, but Memphis is currently a far better job in regards to resources, exposure, etc.

This is not a slight on USM in any way. I have tremendous respect for your program and wish the Eagles the absolute best.

But facts are facts. Just like VT is a better situation than Memphis, Memphis is a better situation than USM.

I take no joy in this. I actually really like USM, but with so much driven by markets and such, having a rich FB history (USM historically is probably better than Memphis) means far less than it should.

Either way, if we don't need your coach, I hope he stays. It would be good for USM.

That's nice, however, it still does not make USM to Memphis a lateral move. Conference affiliation alone makes Memphis more attractive...

RE: Brohm/Monken...
I don't think there's much to talk about in terms of Memphis being a better program--historically, no, but present, yes, with far more future upside than USM.

Having said that, I don't see either Monken or Brohm coming here. I think Brohm is headed to a P5 and Monken will wait another year at USM to leave, again most likely for a P5 spot.

Doesn't mean it's not a roll of the dice for Monken by waiting a year but coaches understand that as much as anyone.

I'll be back here Sunday to get the Press conference time....you know, the more I think if it, it would be right down Memphis's alley to go for a head coach with a 13-24 record. Yes indeed.

yeah, if they're still there when Mizzou, SC, Cuse, Rutgers, etc are done...then, maybe...depends on how much we're throwing around.

same for Lincoln Riley...if we want him, we'll have to wait to see if Mizzou or SC offers.

We aren't paying our new coach anything close to 2 million, so if that's what it takes for these guys, they aren't happening. We went "all in" with Odom and it wasn't close to 2 million.

Odoms a coordinator. All in was the push to get him now. It was not a sign that we were going to offer a ridiculous salary to someone who had never been a head coach before.

I don't think Monken will come either, but if you think Memphis is "at best" a lateral move, how come every other post I read from a USM fan says they would jump at the opportunity to join the AAC, bemoans the fact that you are playing unknowns like UTSA and the Florida schools, and the fact that CUSA gets no respect in the media?
