First, the big donors should announce that their largesse towards their alma maters will end. Cut off the money and the administration will take steps to quell the protests and re-establish the primacy of free speech.
Second, admit that diversity has not succeeded in achieving its (questionable) goal of increasing dialogue and understanding. On the contrary, the diversity has had the opposite effect of stiffing discourse lest it make someone "uncomfortable." Universities should abandon diversity enrollments, the progressive euphemism for racial preferences, and return to merit admissions.
Good blog by Bill Torpy in the Atlanta Journal Constitution Sunday. Torpy is pretty liberal. But he was commenting on how spoiled these various protestors were. Quoted someone who's seminar he had been to as blaming it on helicopter parents, keeping kids from facing adversity and difficult situations. And that it had taken a real turn for the worst in the last couple of decades.
Would link, but its couldn't find it online yet. Sometimes these pieces don't show up for a few days.
I know plenty of conservatives who are just as guilty of coddling their children as liberals. Actually, probably more, given I live and work in overwhelmingly conservative communities.

You should be forced to carry a bell and say "Unclean" when you near others.

I don't think he was saying only liberal parents do this. He was saying the Missouri, Yale, etc. nonsense was a consequence of that type of parenting.

What will have to happen to bring an end to all of this nonsense? And yes, that means from both perspectives.
Nothing brings things to an end like ignoring them.
But if you want to make a difference, two things will have to happen: 1. The people of the movement will have to acknowledge that some of the "victims" here aren't victims. 2. Law Enforcement has to recognize that it has been in the wrong in some of these situations.
These are the two things that the sides aren't willing to do though.
Claremenot-McKenna College is also having a black tantrum about diversity and safe spaces, but during one protest when an Asian student explained that a black student had told her to "go back where you belong." The student then said:
Quote:Black people can be racist..
Well you can probably guess what happened next. The crowd shouted her down and the protest leader replied
Quote:How is that relevant to the college failing to provide a space for people of color?
So there you have it. This is a black thing. Solution, no more lower standards to meet some eponymous black diversity admission goal.

Yeah, this is easy to ignore.
Who said that it would be easy? Maddow, beck, Limbaugh. All of those people would be in big trouble if their opposition simply chose to ignore them. It's difficult to do, but it's the best way to be rid of them.
