There is no military solution.

They seem to think the west can be defeated and are committed to that course of action. Eventually, one side or the other will run out of people that are committed to the respected causes.

Seems according to watching a few minutes of MSNBC that ISIS has been using tens of thousands of recruited foreigners as "cannon fodder" as their front line. The leadership hangs behind and continues to recruit.

Iran is the Main infringement in keeping ISIS around as it weakens the surrounding countries for Iran to conquer soon. Obama sided with Iran and gave Them billions of dollars to reload and develop Nukes with. The Devils in the Details We won't get to see.

There is a military solution. Of course there is. The military fights and kills. I prefer something a little more civilized.

Any Muslim killed in violent jihad is buried with a pigs head in an unmarked grave facing away from Mecca.

I'm fairly certain that many would like to hear how that strategy works to end this type of conflict....

on a different scale and scope, this is the basically the same as the war on poverty and drugs in 'murica....the strategy of 'put 'em all in prison or welfare' seems to be working quite well.....

you either corral 'em and kill 'em all or invade and eradicate all forms of their gov't....

pick your poison.....all the US and the rest are doing is stupid shite....we should have contained, not gotten involved, and let them them duke it out.....too late for that now....

at some point you have to acknowledge the problem and deal with it....

nobody wants to hear those options.....

Yes there is a military solution, its just that no one has the attention span to implement it. As for containing and corralling, I don't think that has ever been fully tried outside of Israel since one would need to be blatantly discriminatory for it to work.

I guess HOD wants to meet up with Isis at Starbucks and hive them some gift cards to Bed Bath& Beyond. Take a few selfies and become BFF ! Am I right?

The solution is borders, language, and culture. If we can't control these elements, we can't win.

I would term my strategy Baby Hiroshmia.

I would recommend researching each dead terrorist and simply eradicating the village he grew up in. If he grew up in a city, eradicate his mosque and and 3-mile perimeter.

When the cost of their actions is more than they gain, they will quit.

You want it to stop? You have mama and daddy sending letters saying : "Don't do it son, or they will destroy our entire village. All of your family and friends will die. Are you trying to kill us, son? Come home."

Do this and you are done in 6 months. But you have to be ruthless and simply kill everyone. We don't have that will.

We need to make them think about what they have been doing. If they think about it long enough, they will feel guilt over their actions and shame. Then we can put all of this behind us.

Everyone sees the irony of bombing civilians in retaliation for civilian bombings, right?

completely agree.....and why are we waiting?

that's why the answer is "no" in the current methodology of "warfare"

it would be so simple and effective....

you have to commit to killing the innocent....."collateral" must become passe......like I said, corral and eradicate or invade and change their gov't....it's amazing how little we've learned from 'nam

there isn't another option that I see being effective and efficient...

tossing out pamphlets.....what a media driven/humanitarian tard strategy....

I know this is the second day in a row I bring up the movie Independence Day, but I find this scene apt:

Sunnis have their homeland then ISIS goes away. The hard core Sharia stuff didn't work in 2007-08

Blame the drunken Brit with the protractor for the fiasco.

Rather than stopping the Kurds, the best thing we could do would be to support their independence. An actual state would be better to control ISIS than two failed states in Syria and Iraq. And we would have an area that could be successful economically and be an example. Of course, it would be necessary to convince Turkey that it was in their interest as the Kurds would be landlocked with ISIS on the south and enemies in Iran and eventually Iraq in the south who wouldn't be cooperative.

Sherman was right. He would be tried as a war criminal now, but war is hell. We need to make war even more unpleasant for those who would wage it against us.

everything we've done to date allows that potential....we've been fighting in various ways other than the way it takes to end this....

the answer is "no" simply b/c it doesn't solve the problem with what gov't is currently willing to do to bring peace....

people have to die.....for every radical, 1k innocents have to be slaughtered...

it doesn't matter whether you like it.....it's what it takes to get back to living peacefully....

and the dipshites won't sign off on that concept.....

genghis khan or alexander would be having a field day if they had our technology....

yep....however, fighting their version of terror with an entire other level of terror isn't an option in today's politics....

carl would laugh at how we've approached and tried to solve this problem.....

Nuclear is a solution.

Not a proponent of it.

But objectively speaking.....shock, awe, and death totals would be the only way to defeat such a rabid, cowardly, brainwashed foe.
