He's an intense, loyal, work 18 hours a day kind of a guy. He knows he can't keep the intensity up forever. And he is the type that if he can't give 100%, he will give 0. I will be extremely surprised if he doesn't retire at TCU, and I expect that he will retire sooner than most people think. He's only 55, but I will be surprised if he is coaching much past 60.

All of these are reasons I don't see it happening except for the first. Patterson's scheme is/was better suited to PAC offenses than Whittingham's. Whittingham and Patterson have both shown the ability to adjust their base schemes to better fit new conferences. Patterson's transition from the MWC to BigXii was more difficult from a schematic challenge standpoint than a move to the PAC would be.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him trade up at some point in his career but he doesn't strike me as the kind that is interested in a rebuild.

Nothing official because it is not happening. He's had plenty of opportunities to leave and if anything he's eyeing retirement more than a new gig. Based on comments he's made in the past, my guess is that he will retire within 5 years or so. His personality is that of an intense, hands on coach. The's not made to be an old / CEO/ delegate responsibilities type coach who hangs on for years. He's not starting somewhere from scratch at this point.

Agreed, I'm not buying it either. At this point he's built TCU into a complete powerhouse and has brought them into the P5 as a result of that. Maybe an NFL job, but no way is he leaving for a different college job. As they say s*** rolls down hill, but at this point TCU isn't really downhill of many programs.

If anyone should worry about losing their coach it is you.

Patterson is the king of Ft. worth I love how he trolls other teams at such an elite level even when it is at our expense

Let me guess, the OP searched his name on Twitter and thinks those worthless articles are legit....lol.

No school is going to pry him away from TCU. No school. He could have named his own job for a few years now and never left.

Replace a college guy with another college guy? I mean, I know O'Brien's record is more in the pros than his seasons at Penn State, but he got that gig because he could make a winner out of a stunted program.
