Indeed. Say what you want about attendance not mattering but I bet a bowl committee would take a dim view of a team that attracted a whopping 300 fans for a home game......at least at our level.

So we have a fan of a school in the same conference on another conference board bashing a conference member....

Just seems odd for that to happen when this fans school was just disbanded because of lack of support. Seems really strange a UAB fan talking down about any program.

BeliefBlazer is cool, he's a GS season ticket holder! I don't really sense all of the bashing you are. It's the same discussion I'm sure is going on (or has) the CUSA board. It's a bad situation.

Unless 17k was on the home side there was not close to that many fans at the game.

I do. App's attendance numbers have always been legit, IMO. The home side is much larger and has the student section.

Same thing I saw with a week night game at ASU earlier this season
I know USA fans said they are the only school in FBS that uses actually count...again not by what I've seen on my TV.
Rice had maybe 4,000 to 5,000 fans at the Western game a few weeks ago and they listed 20k. Pictures I saw showed maybe 3k but I was there and 1500 or so were doing what we could to get out of the sun...not seen

No matter the number of fans at a FIU game...100 or 30k FIU is going to be more valuable than most of our programs.. Us fans in small markets might not agree with that but....

location location location

If there were 300 in the stands I'm betting there were at least 25 to 30 watching on TV.

Maybe for some reason he hates them. Nothing wrong with that. Hate's a good thing in football rivalries.
Is that happened?

One picture from a game that happened nearly a decade ago. Nice. Got any of the 3 27,000+ crowds from last season?

I'm not bashing FIU at all. I want them to succeed. I wish they had 20K for every game. They have a relatively large and active tailgate area but the people never even bother to go inside. They need to do something about it.

I am a season ticket holder at multiple Sun Belt schools and root for all G5 programs. Don't see why it should be any big deal that I like to post over here.

Don't know about USA, but until recently the Cajuns were one of the few programs that counted and reported tickets scanned at the gate. Fortunately we've apparently dropped the practice so we can report inflated numbers like everyone else.

And while I understand the market size, TV audience arguments, etc, as it relates to the school's "value", does it not stand to reason that if 300 people show up at the game, few will be interested in watching it at home? I know there are means by which those viewing audience numbers are tabulated, and I guess a certain percentage of TV sets might accidentally be left on during an F_U game, but still.

Believe me (or don't - I don't care) but it's well documented USA not only counts ONLY scanned tickets, they UNDERREPORT as well since there are faulty scanners often.

If we had the Goodrich (yeah, I know!) Blimp you'd see the home side was pretty damn full. I believe this is the case in many G5 weekday games since the press boxes and cameras are generally situated on the home team's side of the stadium.

But hey, as far as I'm concerned, anyone who wants to can talk about our so-called "attendance problems" until they're blue in the face and - wait for it ------ I DON'T CARE.

That team has been in existance as an FBS team for just 3 seasons. FIU has been around for 10 years plus.

Pretty crappy excuse lol. Nice how you tried to narrow it to just FBS years as if they weren't FCS before and have even less fans now. Point is why bash FIU when one of your own has the same exact problem? Large metro area, no one cares.

I know the numbers look sparse in the Dome this season but I assure everyone it's still a "thousands" issue, not a "hundreds" issue with GSU attendance.

Doesn't matter if FIU gets to 6 wins they will go to a bowl and even if they only had 5 fans at the game FIU will go bowling with 6 wins before the 5th place SBC team..

Tie-ins is all that counts

Point is you do that on CUSA boards...

He hardly ever talks football over there.

I look at it as I can bad mouth my brother to family but it should stay there.

I honestly don't know how many showed up for the APP/ASU game. I know the visitor side looked 4/5 empty and they never really showed the home side other than students saying bad bad words.

With FIU I keep seeing moved to fast to FBS. Should of had FCS success like App and GS. I don't think it would make any difference mainly because Miami has problems and they are national program. If FIU ever gets to a 20000 average it will be a miracle. I am amazed they can field a team with the support they have. Glad they are in CUSA. To the fan wondering how we can talk about them when we have a team with attendance problems. My answer to that is without FIU and FAU that is two less problems.

I'm beginning to think Miami is an apathetic market. Great athletes but horrible fan base.

I live here in SF, fan support for all programs is pathetic, except for the Florida State game, Miami isn't averaging ACTUAL BUTTS IN SEATS more than 22-23 thousand a game. Too many other things to do on a Sat afternoon the to sit on a hot metal bleacher on 95 degree weather.

Don't know what kind of math you guys use in the big city, but where I come from this ain't "thousands".
