Carson on the other hand believes the pyramids were for something other than what the Egyptians wrote down they were for and what every archaeologist has found...and he's maintained this nonsense since at least 1998.
He also believes going into prison can make you gay.

Because we're electing someone to represent us in the world. And beliefs like this are way to tied to nutty religious principles.
That has to scare you if you're being honest.

Not as scary as believing that Obamacare can work. One affects me, the other doesn't.

A 7th Day Adventist should never become the president. That denomination is a cult just like the JW's and LDS.

If we're disqualifying people for believing things to be patently false based on evidence, can we get rid of any candidate who believes the gender pay gap is the result of systemic sexism? Or anyone that thinks the shooting of Michael Brown wasn't legal or wouldn't not have happened to a white kid?

IDK, a lot of cult beliefs with a whole new holy book from the mind of Joseph Smith, the magic underwear belief, etc. Forgot to add scientology believers as well as Muslims.

Are you sure on your Egyptology? There is a growing school of thought that the Pyramids were not primarily used for tombs. When it comes to the Pyramids, there are no absolutes. Do you still believe they were built by slave labor? Do you believe those are the only 3 Pyramids built by the Egyptians? What was the purpose of places like Luxor and Memphis? Wouldn't the Valley of Kings make the Pyramids redundant?
And as OWL said, or to paraphrase, what does this have to do with balancing the budget?

Whether the sexism is "systemic", the disparity exists for reasons not limited to: women being tasked at home with taking care of children and women not getting paid maternity leave and risking losing their jobs after they return, men getting preference in hiring and other factors like that. We can argue motivations but the gap exists and is a problem.
Anyway, Ben Carson's beliefs here are just a matter of not believing what's in front of his face. It's as bad as believing the Earth doesn't revolve around the Sun, or rejecting gravity. There are some things that are not up for debate and you can't just say "Oh, but it's a matter of faith." It's not about faith, it's about you ignoring obvious facts.

If what to do with the pyramids becomes burning issue, I'll remember not to trust him.
I'm more interested in finding someone I can trust on issues that do matter--like the economy and health care and foreign policy.

While I agree that no one single weird Carson story amounts to much, the sheer number of them (and many were in his books - not just a random slip of the tongue during an interview) does seem to suggest he's a bit of a loon. Maybe a very smart and talented loon. But one who should stick to surgery, and not dabble in an area like politics in which he has yet to demonstrate even one example that suggests he's suited for that position.
Trump may be a bit of a nutcase too, but at least he has some examples he can point to that suggest some of his bravado is legit.

If he didn't believe the holocaust happened, would you also find that irrelevant?
If he believed that George Washington was actually an alien from the planet Zarxbaro, would you also find that irrelevant?
