No they didn't. Your QB is garbage. Once NIU somewhat slowed down the run, you did nothing. That's why you got beat. He's garbage and he's always been garbage.

Are you guys going do this **** for the next year? Last year your excuse was your 4th string QB. Well you just got beat by one.

Well...looks like G-String hasn't grown up yet 05-stirthepot

Rocket Football tweeting some post game comment garbage from Campbell. I'm having a little fun ripping coach for saying the same standard crap as every other game.

It has nothing to do with that. Toledo has a damn good shot to win the west now that Hare is out. NIU needs Toledo to beat CMU next week.

But to sit here and say Toledo beat themselves? Come on. It's been 6 years now. Admit NIU is the superior team and have been in recent memory.

Good luck the rest of the year. Hope you guys beat both CMU and WMU.

RE: NIU - UT game thread
I've said this before, and I'll say it again: Ely is NOT a good QB. I was wondering why there was hype about him after the beginning of the season when his stats weren't great. He's a transfer from Alabama. That doesn't automatically make ya good.

NIU lost their #1/#2 WR TLL, and their starting QB Hare, on the road AT Toledo when Toledo had the lead. Yikes.

Welcome to MAC football. Where CMU (almost) always beats NIU, and NIU always beats Toledo. There's a decent shot NIU will lose another game -- they still have WMU to play. But Toledo still has WMU (as well as CMU).

It's all up in the air right now for who wins the MAC West.

Ely is a certified bum. Has a great running game and hadn't been sacked the entire year coming into the night and he was only completing 55% of his passes and had thrown 7 picks.

It wasn't hard to see what would happen once a team got pressure on him. He sucks.

A couple of those picks were BS.
One he just threw a jump ball because he knew the D was offsides.
Others were tips or drops by receivers.
Not many were just flat out bad throws although I would say 1 was tonight for sure.

Exactly...our QB was garbage tonight. Toledo beat Toledo. If he completes a couple of key passes tonight (which he had done all season) we win.

I'm sorry, I guess I'm talking about a Northern team that was far more superior than Toledo heading into the game because you lost to Ohio St by 7 pts and you should've been favored to win by 3 touchdowns. Yes you executed at certain points but nothing about your team's performance tonight indicated that you were a better team. You won...you beat a top 20 team...but you got lucky

RE: NIU - UT game thread
THEY BEAT TOLEDO PLAYING THEIR 4TH STRING QUATERBACK. 4TH STRING.

You couldn't cover TLL, he got hurt in the first half.
NIU lost their starting QB to an achillies injury in the first half. The second stringer is out for the year with a back injury. The third stringer transfered.

Toledo was up 8 in the fourth quarter against a fourth string QB, and lost.

That's not bad luck. Yardage was pretty much even.

You got beat, again.

RE: NIU - UT game thread
NIU defense was causing Ely to hurry, which led to some off the mark throws. NIU's DBs are good, but NIUs wide-outs showed how to come up big on third down. Too bad for Toledo, but NIU seemed to have Toledo on edge ever since the 2nd quarter. Losing the QB should have put Toledo in the house, but the young NIU QB had some great players around him. Toledo had opportunities to distance themselves, and didn't do it. At times Toledo played great. Missing the late FG was big.

Toledo wideouts didn't seem that physical. Wilcher has a knee brace, and where did thompson go? Too many catchable dropped balls.

Toledo could win out and NIU could drop a game. We'll see how it goes.

Every year its a different excuse. Your QB blows and was outplayed by our 3rd stringer.

You are correct for this game, but if we played this poor all year long, we would not be 7-1 right now. NIU is not the best team we have played. That's why we get that comment, and you obviusly don't. The 2nd quarter mistakes let NIU back in the game. Our mistakes, not forced by NIU. And, you had some good defense and a bit of luck (the no call on the Golaway push off was huge!). The Jordan Lynch team that came to Toledo 2 years back was way better than this team. We really should have beat this team, just like CMU handled them.

Congrats, you won. NIU seems to be Kryptonite for Toledo, no doubt.

Well, that sucked. Congrats to the Huskies. Toledo couldn't keep from shooting themselves in the foot and neither could NIU but NIU overcame some huge errors and Toledo didn't. Ely played by far his worst game. I feared for the game when we went three and out with three passes on the first series. NIU played a nice game and their backup QB looked pretty sharp after half. We lost Milligan, hopefully not for long, which hurt. Early BG prediction: BG 84 UT 56.

CMU won because of crap conditions and Hare turning the ball over every other touch...

Yeah, the 1st series in the 2nd half had left me with a super ominous feeling as well

What is your UT v CMU prediction?

Can we please be a rival now? This one has to hurt, most likely worse than the last 5! Have a long year waiting for redemption. Good luck the rest of the year.

I like CMU's QB.
I think he is pretty good.
Would take him over ours. Same with Matt Johnson.
Those are the 2 MAC QBs I like this season.
Its always been a QB league

No. Rivals you hate just for being who they are. With NIU, you make me hate ourselves. I don't mind NIU. No beef against them. But I hate what we become when we play you. Basically, it's not you, it's us.

Well we should just keep kicking your asses for another 6 years, I wonder how long it will take before you move the hate to us. I know what you mean though, its hard to hate a team when you dominate them for so long. Trying to stay classy, but Toledo is my rival
