"If I was coach I wouldn't schedule them" - Mack Brown
This was what Mack Brown said regarding Notre Dame playing Temple...
Something all of us knew (in Houston) regarding Mack Brown's scheduling philosophy. Good to know ND AD and coach have some balls.

ECU knows it all too well from Mr. Brown.

Why does this make you mad? Would any AAC team schedule North Dakota State? What is there to gain from it?

Except Temple is an FBS program.

Regardless, if you're a coach at a program like Texas as Mack was, why would you schedule someone that could beat you and take respect from you? There are good reasons but for the most part it makes no sense. You schedule to preserve or enhance your status, not throw a bone unless you're really good friends with the schedule'e.

Well lets look at from another perspective, some of you don't want to schedule games against CUSA, the MAC and Sun Belt programs because as some of you put it, "there is nothing to gain from it".

Notre Dame signed this home-home series back in early 2011...as the game in Philly was initially set for 2014 but once ND joined the ACC and has to play certain ACC games per year...2014 game was pushed to 2015. ND won the game in South Bend in 2013, 28-6.

ND hasn't played a game in Philly in almost 25 years....and since Catholics make up the largest religious sect in Philly, it seemed like a really good move for ND.

It's a double edge sword. We are trying to separate from the pack and "up" our scheduling in the eyes of the biased P5 voters and it helps pay bills.

Not saying it's right. I'm a G5 fan. P5 lovers look down at all of us, but they have no clue what it means to grind.

Well, since any team can beat any team on any given [Saturday], who do you schedule?

This is the first time Temple has been ranked since the 1970's. Notre Dame probably thought they were scheduling a cupcake when the game was set up.

The "cupcake" mentality applies as well about the H&H series MEMPHIS has with UCLA.

The TIGERS played out in Pasadena in 2014 and the return game in MEMPHIS is set for mid September 2017. But of course we're already hearing how UCLA is considering simply paying the cancellation fee and not honor that return game.

Chickenshit liars.

I don't see how this comment relates to Notre Dame - Temple.

Notre Dame is actually very fortunate to be playing Temple today; as Temple is an unbeaten and this helps their quest to get into the playoff (if they win)..

It was fortuitous scheduling for them.

"Throw a bone"? You are out of touch

There shouldn't be ways in the contract for teams to buy out of it.

Well, you get what you can negotiate. Without that clause, the P5 team wouldn't agree to play.

One of ND's scheduling goals is to play in big cities in pro football stadiums, especially in the Northeast where it has lots of alumni and fans.

This fits the bill.

UT and the rest of the P5 disparage the AAC teams as weak. Yet these teams will bail at the drop of a hat if they move from the cellar.
UT, BU, aTm don't mind playing Rice or SMU when they are down.

Frankly, I like seeing UH play good CUSA, MAC, SBC and MWC teams. Competitive games are more interesting.

I was just a bit shocked that Mack would ADMIT it.

He admitted it when he was the head coach at UNC.

Yea, I heard him say that. Obviously Mack likes the cowards way out. Instead of testing their mettle on the field against great competition, regardless. Mack should have been ashamed to say such a statement, but he wasn't. That type of statement is totally antithetical to what sports is all about.
