neither do when you get down to it....

one just tells you he knows....

the other doesn't know diddly other than a religious platform....

there isn't a candidate that is electable that is running on anything that really matters....

this is nothing more than electing a student body president....

it's a tough watch.....
Yeah, but Trump gets his own Twitter and cultist spin so it doesn't matter.

What part of "general election " don't you understand

Quote:A new national poll shows nearly every major Republican candidate beating Hillary Clinton in a hypothetical general election -- and shows Ben Carson leading by a resounding 10-point margin....

..."[A]t the moment Dr. Ben Carson is delivering a troubling diagnosis to Secretary Hillary Clinton," Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement. "Clinton gets crushed on character issues, pounded by Carson and closely challenged by Sen. Ted Cruz, Donald Trump and Sen. Marco Rubio."

Yeah but that's a year out from the actual election. People know now that they don't like Hillary and Carson seems like a likable guy. If he were to win the GOP nomination, by the end of next summer a vast majority would know that they don't like Hillary but there's no way in hell they'd vote for Carson to be President. Right now a large portion of the electorate isn't really engaged. When put under the spotlight of a general election I don't think Carson is going to hold up.

So what we take from this... Hillary comparing Chrsitian's to Islamic terrorist need to be understood in context. Carson drawing a comparison between abortion and slavery is shark jumping.

The poll asked if the election were held today would you vote for Carson or Clinton.

It also asked whether you had a favorable opinion of these candidates.

Clinton:
42% - Favorable
52% - Unfavorable
5% - Haven't heard enough
And apparently 1% refused to answer

Carson:
49% - Favorable
25% - Unfavorable
25% - Haven't heard enough

So like I said in my initial post:

TODAY people don't like Clinton and feel like Carson is likeable enough but may not be that familiar with him

NEXT YEAR my thinking is (and no I don't have a time machine smartass) people's opinion of Clinton hasn't changed but they're not really going to vote for Carson

That's great an all, but this poll is talking about what people think right now. (You know, just like every other political poll does.) I don't see why you seem to take exception to this particular poll and discredit the notion that despite the media's claim that Carson linked abortion to slavery, he is improving in the polls and holds a significant lead over Clinton.

What makes you think I'm taking exception to this poll? I'm simply saying that I think Ben Carson is unelectable (along with Trump) regardless what any poll says. And that's why I don't think (hope) that they'll win the nomination regardless of what all the polls up to this point have said. But if Republicans are crazy enough to nominate one of them then they'll get pummeled in the general by Hillary again regardless of what any poll at this point says.

Honestly I don't think many people really caught his comment about abortion and slavery. Most of the people polled are probably not paying that close of attention. If he were to win the nomination people would start to pay attention and say to themselves WTF were the Republicans thinking.

So your opinion is more valid than this poll?

This poll isn't saying anything but of 1,144 people the pollsters asked would you vote for Clinton or Carson today, more said they'd vote for Carson. I'm saying Clinton would mop the floor with Carson in a general election. The poll also indicated that 25% of those polled weren't familiar enough with Carson to form an opinion of him. I'm saying once they get to know him, they're not going to want him to be President.
