Why is Tulsa in this league?
Not flaming, but this league is built by large public schools and great markets and football. Tulsa is 0-3. I complain about Tulane a lot but at least they are 1-2.

RE: Why is Tulsa in this league?
I have no problem with Tulsa being in the league. They aren't very good now, but they've had multiple 10-11 win seasons and top 25 appearances in the past 6 or so years. They are also a top 100 school per USNWR. I see them, SMU, and Tulane as our Wake Forest, Duke, and BC's.

That'll increase once Sampson and Co. get us to SMU-level cheating.

Tulsa also has a metro of just under 1 million. Huntington - 350k, Hattiesburg - 150k.

I've said it probably a dozen times and I'm only halfway kidding, I don't mind if we cheat if it gets us a few tournament appearances before we get caught. The worst that can happen is that we're penalized and relegated back to where we are now.
If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'.

SMU basketball turned a $10,000,000 profit last year.

I'm really not sure why they're members. It's a good question.

Why is your team in the AAC? Love Tulsa,Tulane,Navy and SMU. Gives our league an infusion of academic prestige and class. All four great areas to visit for AAC sporting events and top recruiting venues also. I like all the schools in our league now and they are all a great mix of diverse top universities.

Market. Largest school in the league. Football (not this year). 2-1

Tulsa's market is roughly the same size as Cincy's. We just have he disadvantage of having 2 relevant state schools instead of just one. Its funny that a UCF fan is talking junk since his school is going through pretty much the same season we went through two seasons ago after a conference championship and bowl victory over a P5 team.
But we actually managed to win a couple of games even though we had a terrible head coach and no defense.

Tulsa has had plenty of historical success on the FB field and has very good academics. They are a class institution. Id submit they historically are on par with Navy.

I know football is the major driver in terms of money and prestige but Tulsa has had a pretty good hoops program over the years and they should be real good this year. I see their football program improving in years to come as many of the American teams are. I'm glad they are in our conference.

The Cincinnati metro has a population of 2.3 million, and it will likely merge with the Dayton market following the next census, at which time the combined market will exceed 3 million. The population of the entire state of Oklahoma is 3.6 million.
