Why ask why?

Try Bud Dry.

(BTW, I like Tulsa as a program and think they are a great part of the AAC, if anyone is curious)

I think Tulsa was added in part to appease Navy.

RE: Why is Tulsa in this league?
NIU is available if you want good football and a new footprint in a large media market... having an injury ridden season and serious problems and still 4-3 this year =)

Sure Tulsa is rebuilding now, but in the last 10 years you guys have played against Tulsa in 3 Conference Championships losing 2 out of the three.

Tulsa brings a lot to the table and I was EXTREMELY happy when they got the invite.

Spot on. Tulsa is a fine school and was a good add for the conference.

RE: Why is Tulsa in this league?
I don't think Tulsa adds much to tell you the truth (in terms of market or branding) BUT they make great competition in both football and basketball and have a long time rivalry with most teams in this conference. They don't detract from the league which is something you can't say from a lot of potential expansion candidates. They're solid.

I don't have clue what drove the Poster to start this thread, but Tulsa is a very good member of the conference. Just review their atletic history and university they are s logical choice with a past that crosses some of ours. The game last night was awesome from a spectator viewpoint.

There must be some underlying and unrelated reason for this thread.

RE: Why is Tulsa in this league?
If someone just started caring about this league this year, they'd ask why UCF was here.

5 years ago the question would be why is Baylor in the b12

Teams rise and fall. Chill out tulsa can be as good as anyone. Long live teh rivalry.

It's not about football or basketball, it's about school profile.

There is nothing to be gained by this persistent, trash talking. Tulsa is here to stay. All this does is keep more Tulsa fans off this board. What fans of any school want to read this garbage about their team on a regular basis.

Very selective mods on this board.

Serious discussion. I started it with "not flaming". Now back to the discussion.

Didn't everyone get all this of of their systems yet?

What point are you trying to prove? What do you hope to gain?

The weekly bash Tulsa threads are getting really old really fast.

Is their profile that different from SMU's or Tulane's?

I had virtually not heard of UCF until they joined Cusa ten years ago.

Tulsa has been around for decades. Memphis and Cincy have played them on and off in both football and basketball for a long time. Probably SMU and Houston too.

UCF has done very well for itself in football the past few years, but don't get ahead of yourself about profile.

I'm glad to have Tulsa as a member. They certainly pull their own weight and punch way above its enrollment size--the smallest in FBS. I like the diversity and quirkiness that fact brings to the conference.

RE: Why is Tulsa in this league?
I am not concerned about Tulsa's ability to compete on the field or court...

My concern with them is similar to my concerns with SMU, Houston, and past concerns with Temple... that they do not have strong enough committed fan base and that their empty stadiums can at times make the conference look bad.

A ranked opponent came into their stadium last night and the crowd looked awful on TV. This conference previously tossed Temple for weak attendance and at the time its inability to win games. If the conference wants to run with the big boys, our schools must have fan support.

It was a Friday night game during Oktoberfest. I told everyone the stands wouldn't be full. HS football is big in Oklahoma. Really big! You can't schedule us on a Friday and expect good attendance.

Just ignore. Why give any credibility to any poster that won't list the program he cheers for?

RE: Why is Tulsa in this league?
Tulsa's attendance has to be a concern. But over the last 10 years or so they've been a decent program.

Tulane on the other hand I think is the program that I wonder why still got the invite. Army for football only would make more sense.
