18K on a Tuesday is pretty good. Wouldnt complain about it for sure. That said ARKST had the best 5 minutes in college football this year. Congrats on a good game by both. Both teams looked pretty solid most of the night.

Well of course there was the normal heckling from the student section. I don't mind a little taunting in return, but when the coaches are involved in it, there is a very deep problem.

Which coaches? We had a GA actually draw us a penalty earlier this year.

It was most likely GAs, looked rather young from what I could see.

Probably GA or strength assistants they are uh high energy

With all that being said, the Arkansas State fans I met were 1st class, before and after the game. Kudos to them for making the trip on a Tuesday night.

Turning point was when the S. Alabama player got ejected for targeting. S. Alabama imploded and it snowballed drastically from there. Up until that point, S. Alabama was in control. Once momentum swung, they couldn't get it back and Clements couldn't control the ball.

Now, was ASU a sleeping giant and are now stomping around or will they go back into hybernation?

Also, why does Blake "Punt Fake" Anderson not ever punt the ball? I imagine teams with any film on ASU expect them to fake punt by now.

That was our first fake punt of the year interestingly enough.

Yeah, I'm not worried about GA's. There is a reason they are graduate assistants and not assistant coaches...

They are high energy guys just out of college who are learning on the job. They will make mistakes. They'll learn to stop that eventually

As has been talked about on our board, we've got Seniors on our board who are on their 3rd coach. Several have decided to take the attitude that they are bigger than the program. There's a lot of hope that once this group graduates, we'll be able to get the issues back on track. A large majority of our penalties in the last two years have been on these guys

Anyway, feel bad for the USA fans. USA looks like stAte 10 years ago. It has probably been stated already but I hope our coach lost his luggage on the flight and had to borrow a t-shirt from a player on the team. How sad. It's almost as bad as Hudspeth wearing shirts that m from my 12-year-old's closet.

Anyway the fun belt, penalty belt, find a way to lose belt marches on. Entertaining game.

Question - how many fights got broken up at Ladd Peoples tonight? How many cars were broken into in the parking lot?

Just kidding. You stay classy Mobile!

And your players were taunting our students/alumni after the game. Good call on the class.

Well, I for one love Mobile and the people there. Like any place, such as Little Rock or Jonesboro or Blytheville Arkansas, Mobile has rough spots. Still love the place.

Not sure what to do about players taunting students/alumni....NMSU players flipped us off so its not uncommon (we were yelling in their ears all game so I guess its understandable). Wish it hadn't happened to yours.

Nothing like former UALR Coach Shields coming into the stands to fight a student. Haha.

Heh... yep, good times! I was 20 feet away from that debacle.

Horrible helmets for stAte. Was that a white mustache on the matte black helmet???

I absolutely hate those grey uni's. Every time we get a chance to be on a National stage on ESPN, we pick colors that don't represent the university, I have never understood it.

We were talking about that in the stands (yeah, I was there and again, the attendance was UNDER reported as usual - probably 22,000 would be my best guess). We have no home uniform people can identify with. You never know if we're going to have the red jersey & blue pants or blue jersey and red pants combo (or blue/blue, red/red, etc., etc., etc.) from game to game. Aside from Oregon, I can't think of any other team who changes their home uniform combos as much as USA does. At least Oregon's are much more interesting.

He went after a fan in one of our games as well. Of course that fan may or may not have thrown a water bottle at him...but still, it was funny.

Yeah, any good student section gives the opponent hell on the sidelines and when you lose you should expect some talk back. That is standard stuff. Also standard for a fan or two from the losing team to focus on it.

My first response was "Seriously 66-7?"
Said rooting harder for Southern-Bama I replied "66-7?"
Added "live vicariously through the Jags after dropping 8 straight to AState. My you guys have sunk."
Replied: lolol. I miss you guys so much.
Me: We miss the easy win.

Elected to not play any more.

I was at the game last night. The pregame "Taste of Mobile" was pretty good, before getting Winzell's in the JAF tent. The Jags OL doesn't do well against bigger DL to open the run. Seemed like our OLine got worse when the RG got hurt, not sure if he returned or not. I like Cody at qb, but he takes too many chances into double and triple coverage. Our defense can't tackle, they just try to bump guys out of bounds. If Arkansas State would have ran the ball, no passes, they could have marched down the field. We still can't cover kicks and return kicks. Coach Joey Jones let the game go away. It seemed like we didn't really make any offensive adjustments. I see Georgia Southern running the ball down our throat. I hope we can beat Texas State next week.

One slick move on the return game.
On one of the short kicks AState had Michael Gordon playing up, so in dodging McKissic kicked it to our starting running back.

The black t-shirt.
Anderson was dressed in white initially and switched to black at the request of the team to match the blackout and that was what they had.

Did catch the replay of the game on ESPN3, and it looked like the sub-par performance from their qb continued for A-State even with Knighten, and probably should have cost them the game.

In the Jonesboro Sun today their HC did say that USA did some things that confused their offensive coaches ( how unsportsmanlike of them), but most A-State fans seem to think they've been confused since they arrived. Think most A-State fans have pretty much thrown in the towel on their offense every getting un-tracked this year.

Despite not having as many 'star' players returning, or as touted a group of coaches, they look like they are improved on the defensive side of the ball since last year. Special teams have definitely improved since last year.

If they could get even decent play from their QB's this would be a very good team, because they have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball.
