FIGHTING ILLINI
OK, I'm not trying to distract from NIU football mania, but I'm a bit surprised by this Illinois team 2 games into the season. Is Cubit working some magic here? Is he the guy to move the program forward?
If no one gives a c__p, that's fine

No offense but I have more interest in Harper football.

Cubit is doing a good job but let's see how they do when the competition gets tough...

When Illinois beats a team that Naperville North could not beat, then maybe that is when to start this discussion.

RE: FIGHTING ILLINI
Illinois is better off with Cubit than with Beckman but whether or not that will actually lead to more wins, I have no idea. There's still a lack of talent relative to the rest of the B1G but they at least have an adult running things now.

I thought going into the year they'd be a better team than last year but not win as many games and I'll stick with that until if/when they pull off an upset.

I like that fact that no one is bringing up NIU playing the Illini anymore. Nothing to gain by it for the Huskies, at least until they actually have a football team in Chambana.

I still want to see NIU beat the Illini - just so I can shut my dad up. I am sick of hearing about them and his lack of respect for NIU

You think beating Illini's current squad will warrant respect?

In my Dad's 77 year old eyes? I don't think he will ever admit it - but it will be the same as with my Alabama colleagues. When they get big in their britches I just remind them "1-0 NIU". So when my Dad starts talking his BS - I would just say "remember in 2016 when the Huskies kicked the Illini ass?"

he would not shut up - but it will still feel good

Clearly some outdated information. Are you going to cite your 2013 record while you're at it?

yeah irrelevant, all the fricking resources in the world, and still can't field a non-joke of a football team. It is a disgrace to the state and to college football in general.

Damn, if the #45 recruiting class is a joke I would hate to see what #80 rolls out there... It would be embarrassing to, while at your peak, be truly out recruited by a disgraceful team with a fired head coach... but who would look at something like that as a barometer for actual relevance outside of a cute little forum?
