RE: ASN (American Sports Network)
I called the television station in Richmond, WRLH2, about why the Wagner - Rice game was selected over ODU/EMU. VERY nice lady that explained that she was not even offered the opportunity to select this game for the 330 time slot. I challenged how a decision for an FCS/FBS from Texas would be chosen over a state FBS team and a MAC school, and she honestly did not know. She promised to call her contact at ASN to better understand why this excluded from her options. She did comment that Old Dominion is available and will be picked up by the station for all other season games on ASN, but just not this one.

I'll update when and if I get another return call.

**Edit**Per return call from Linda at WRLH2, the reason Old Dominion was not include in other "interested" venues was due to the contractual limitations that the MAC has with ESPN. It was a waiver granted to allow the home city, Norfolk, to have the game aired. However, none of the other state affiliates had that option. Apparently, that rule does not apply to the home MAC surrounding areas, as a bevy of Michigan / MAC footprint stations apparently have access.

Thanks Smitty, I've got a call in to the Roanoke station. I imagine I'll get the same answer. According to the ASN website WSET in Roanoke will play all other ODU games except ODU/App St. which IMO is beyond stupid because it probably has the most regional interest of all our games second probably Marshall. There's probably as many if not more App fans in this area as ODU.

Sure would like to see some stations in our recruiting markets. Other than upstate NY and Tidewater i don't see many of our target areas. Thank goodness it's still on ESPN3.

Are we sure it's still on ESPN3?

Just because it's listed on a schedule that some intern hasn't updated isn't exactly confirmation.

I think it will still be on ESPN3, but the only thing that worries me is that its still listed as a 3:00 kick off on their schedule.

I just looked and the App St game isn't listed in NoVA either.

Strange, there doesn't seem to be any conflicting event on ASN at that time either.

FIOS has every game unless it's something weird where the local COX network picks it up which happened a few times when we were FCS.

This might explain some things. Apparently ASN and the MAC just reached a 10 year deal that will kickoff with the ODU@ EMU game this Sat.

I would be in favor of a deal like this the 2nd tier rights being OTA AND ESPN3.

Signed, someone without a local ASN affiliate.

Tried to stream the SE Louisiana game on ASN tonight with no luck. Was trying to give it a test run for Saturday. Anyone have any clues as to how to stream ASN?
