Jesus Christ... you couldn't wait to make a stupid comment like that, could you?

No..this is precisely the time to discuss it.

Every time a mass shooting happens (now up to one every 2 days), the NRA says "too soon". And then it never gets discussed.

This situation was tragic.

That being said...

Has ANYONE every solved ANY CRIME by taking a gun with them outside of their home or their business?

Just curious, because I'm not seeing all (or even one) the reports of 'tragedy averted' because Joe Whiteman took out his gun that he CCLs or Open Carries and saves the day.

Jesse Gates showed up acting erratically at Boiling Springs’ South Side Freewill Baptist Church.

Gates told the pastor to call the local news. That was a pretty big tip off for the pastor, who instead of the news, called 911. The sheriff’s office came out, checked Gates out, and told him to leave the premises, but could not arrest him for anything at that time.

Later that morning, during Sunday services, Gates showed up again. Fortunately, the pastor’s grandson, Aaron Guyton, age 26, saw Gates getting a shotgun out of his truck and took action. Guyton managed to get inside of the main church building and lock the doors.

“At that point, I knew I had to do something,” Aaron Guyton said to local media following the incident. “I wanted to try to contain him outside.”

However, the doors did not stop Gates. He kicked open a side door and burst into the service mid-sermon wielding a shotgun. Before Gates could act, Guyton, a concealed carrier, drew his pistol and ordered Gates to stop at gunpoint. At that point, other members of the congregation were able to restrain Gates.

Not a mass shooting in this case. 3 people shot, you need 4 or more.
This was a handgun probably bought legally.

I had a weapon on me when I interrupted a Strong Armed Robbery in Greenville Sc about 6 years ago. Without my help and another man, the THUG would have not been apprehended.

I am a gun owner and I enjoy target shooting, but something needs to be done to change the culture in this country.

The nuts that commit these acts I think in part do it because they know it will bring them fame.

I wish I knew what the answer is. I don't think getting rid of personal weapons is the solution. I think we have to get people to respect life and one another.

Google is your friend...

Not hard to find several instances if you bothered to take the time to look.

VHSV-TV 3 again... "Reports are now coming in that the #WDBJ shooter is 20 minutes north of Verona on I-81."

Which is an odd description, because 20 minutes north of Verona is essentially Harrisonburg.

My brother is a highly decorated radio reporter in the San Francisco Bay Area (and that area has had a lot of reporters robbed at gunpoint recently) so this news item hits home hard for me. It does sound like there was some sort of personal vendetta with the man who killed them (maybe he's a rejected boyfriend - maybe he thinks they got him fired - something along those lines?).

Regardless, it's a chilling story.

Really surprised that news crews out on some assignments do not pack heat.

Ok

Crimes averted by people packing heat all over town..1
Gun Deaths created by people carrying weapons outside their homes and businesses .... thousands per year.

Moving the goal posts a bit are we?

Of course I could dig up more examples and many of them would save multiple lives but thats not the point. Rights are not measured in lives saved.
