Do you realize how close SML is to Lynchburg? The folk just south of the lake in Henry County (Alison's home) would do the same if there was a fb team in the area.

Ehhhh yeah except JMU didn't recognize the Liberty student that was murdered in Hunters Ridge 7 or 8 years ago.

The PA announcer can say something at the end of the 1st quarter and the stadium can observe a moment of silence. I think that is perfectly appropriate. FYI, the American flag and Commonwealth's flag should not be lowered unless the President or Governor, respectively, order them to be lowered. I assume that Alger can lower the JMU flag if he wishes to do so.

I just think it's an easy way to honor a former student. There's literally no downside to putting a nice looking sticker on each helmet for a season. We could even use the same design that Tech used. A moment of silence would also be appropriate, but why not do everything we can to honor Alison and the legacy she left at JMU?

Is it awkward we didn't use the same design but actually completely changed the color of the established memorial ribbon to suit our needs?

yeah when you're an hour away from where the incident occurred and no one involved had any affiliation with Liberty... it kind of just sounds like "hey look at us too!".
Really any school in Virginia school could do it. That's just my opinion of course. Someone will always see it the other way.

I think Liberty paying tribute has far more to do with WDBJ than with JMU. WDBJ 7 covers a really wide area and includes Lynchburg. They are considered a local station. They have done many stories with Liberty University and have a pretty decent relationship as far as I know.
I don't think it really mattered to LU where Alison and Matt attended college, they would have paid tribute to them anyway. This has way more to do with 2 people who were murdered than where these people went to college. Just my opinion.

I've never read anything about where the killer was educated, or his family life/upbringing. I'm assuming he attended college, and while this info doesn't amount to much, I'm just trying to make some sense of a senseless act.

A++ video tribute that was done during the JMU pregame celebration. Very moving and very well done.

Thank goodness someone has the courage to discipline media personalities for starting the hoax.
