Duke? They won't even play ECU anymore. Until they decide to try us again they can't be considered better. Let's see it on the field.

Stopped reading right there.

You're the biggest ECU hater that's ever browsed these forums so I'm not sure why you were reading this to begin with.

Honestly? I think I speak for many people here when I say I don't hate ECU, and I greatly value having ECU in the conference over other programs like Marshall or USM. Given the choice of the three I'd take ECU every single day and twice on Sunday.

But it's just too damn easy to rustle you guyses Jimmies, and I enjoy taking every opportunity I can to bring your fanbase back down to earth where the rest of us live.

Soooo continue with your victim complex, and we'll just keep laughing behind the corner, and everyone will just get along (except you guys).

Ummm, just as many UCF fans live in fantasyland and think their **** is better than everyone else's. No reason to act as if your fanbase lives down on earth.

NC State fans and ECU fans are more alike than either base will admit. We both have inferiority complexes bigger than the state we live in and we both ultimately feel cheated by those dicks in Chapel Hill. Both schools are full of people more country than a chicken coop.

Of all the teams we ever play, they are the most like us (VT somewhere in there).

RE: This is where ECU fans are coming from
I've tailgated at Duke, NCSU and UNC-CH, and NCSU has the best fans of the three and it ain't even close.

Two years ago, when it was pretty clear we were going to roll over them, people in the lot were yelling things at me like "go easy on us". UNC fans, on the other hand, still thought they had the better team after we rolled up 50 points on them in their own house... and Duke fans didn't even know there was a game that day, lol.

So while NC State indeed has a large lunatic fringe, I like to think so do we at ECU.

I've tailgated a lot for Wake Forest games (when ECU is away) as my parents went there and have season tickets and a primo parking pass. They are all extremely friendly to visitors... maybe even timid. But they all love to drink before the game, drink at halftime, and drink after the game.

But there is also a large contingent of 70+ year olds who show up 5 minutes before the game, and scowl at those playing cornhole near where they think they need to park.

Yeah, I haven't been to a Wake Forest game since the early 90's (GT vs WF) and I honestly don't remember much about it.

WTF does this mean? the all time series is 5-5 and the last time we played it was 2005 and we beat them 24-21. Not to mention the last time we played in durham duke snapped their 40 game losing streak against us in 2002.

How can we say state doesnt fill their stadium every week but we do? State has a great atmosphere, and while I love seeing them lose I also enjoy the tailgates and atmosphere at their games and IMO is a step above ECU in terms of having a big time feel. Im sure they have empty seats some games, but we have our own issues in terms of filling our stadium week in and week out. Towson and VT will probably be the only games close to a sell out this year.

Cincy is nestled in between OSU football fans to the north and UK basketball fans to the south....nobody is in a worse spot in that regard.

Do UK fans really give you guys a hard time? Different conference, plus they're so consumed with Louisville I'm surprised that they even bother to look down on you guys.

We're right next to UNC & Duke in hoops.

Sandwiched between South Carolina & Virginia Tech in football.

And for whatever reason, the best football recruits in the state want to go to UNC.. 01-wingedeagle

Maybe they'd actually have to go to class at the other schools in the state??

My office full of UK fans cheered when Kenyon Martin broke his leg.

This post is pretty much spot on. The insecurity and resultant over-compensating from fellow ECU fans is more than I can bear sometimes.

You bet they do.

You have to understand the geography of our area. The only thing dividing the city of Cincinnati and the northern part of Kentucky is the Ohio River (what we refer to as Northern Kentucky). Northern Kentucky is a cluster of large and nice suburbs. People in Northern Kentucky get ribbed on by their fellow Kentuckians to the south for living in Ohio suburbs. To compensate, the folks in Northern Kentucky take the "Proud to be from Kentucky" things to a whole new level. Some of the most passionate UK fans in all of the Commonwealth live in Northern Kentucky.

Cincinnati draws their ire here. Most of them did not even go to UK. We get a lot of banter from them for being an urban university and a lot of racial undertones are played out (even though UC is about 88% white).
