Amen to that. About the same time Louisville hired Tom Jurich, Memphis hired RC Johnson as AD. The rest is history.
We finally dumped that guy, and got the boosters and president on board to put football first, and look at the direction we're apparently heading now.

Obviously we both struggled mightily in football however they act like they've actually accomplished something when they've done nothing and they get rewarded with a B1G invite because of their proximity to NYC. We absolutely roll them in basketball. We have 3 national champion teams (all sports) and they have 1. It's really unbelievable how cocky and arrogant they are for a school that hasn't done ****
They've been bad for much longer. Longer than just about everyone in fact. You don't create that kind of tradition overnight.
Hey, I will state ECU has been the best Public Football Program the past couple of years. However, Duke currently has been the best right now in NC. NCSU is rebuilding and it is still to early to tell where the program is at. I will say, ECU has followed the pattern of NCSU and UNC, every time there is an expectation for Success, it usually blown by all three schools. One reason, I am not trying to get my hopes up for this season since people a predicting NCSU success.
As for Basketball, Herb Sendek was major success for multiple NC Colleges, ask UNC-Greensboro. Not quite sure ECU can talk Basketball success anytime soon.
Finally, I be the first to say ECU is far more passionate about Baseball than NCSU. Still, when was the last time ECU was in the NCAA World Series?

Comment about SEC adding a directional school made me laugh. After all it is the South Eastern Conference. Does not get any more directional than that one.
I could easily see the Pirates in the SEC. Man that would really upset the ACC sweeties. Would be fun to watch the melt downs.

Would be more fun to watch Tennessee, Florida & Georgia come into Dowdy-Ficklen every other year.
NB, didn't we also kick the %$#@ out of State last year? I remember we put in the band and dance team late and they scored like 3 times in the last few minutes to make it look closer than it was.
They're just jealous we might get in the SEC and really kill any dream of theirs of being a decent athletic department. As long as they are in the ACC they will be behind Duke and UNC in-state. Plus Clemson, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Florida State, Miami, Louisville, etc. in conference. There only chance to take over the state is to leave UNC behind for the SEC and become dominate in basketball and football there. But they want and they are afraid we might actually do it and so they bash us to make themselves fill better. They talk about empty stadiums I have seen way emptier stadiums at UNC and State. Also they get better conference games at home then us so that help them fill up their stadium but when they play non-conference games it shows.

Stopped reading right there.
You're the biggest ECU hater that's ever browsed these forums so I'm not sure why you were reading this to begin with.
I stopped too. I will listen to an educated argument for the B12 of maybe the ACC (yes I know the hurdles on that one) but the SEC isn't happening for anyone not already in the P5.

Honestly? I think I speak for many people here when I say I don't hate ECU, and I greatly value having ECU in the conference over other programs like Marshall or USM. Given the choice of the three I'd take ECU every single day and twice on Sunday.
But it's just too damn easy to rustle you guyses Jimmies, and I enjoy taking every opportunity I can to bring your fanbase back down to earth where the rest of us live.
Soooo continue with your victim complex, and we'll just keep laughing behind the corner, and everyone will just get along (except you guys).
This thread def got off track. As much as I love East Carolina we are not going to the SEC. I was just posting this thread bc it is something most of us can get along about.
It's not about state fans disagreeing with that article.
